Disney/Pixar TURNING RED PRIZE PACK CONTEST
    Premiere Date: March 11, 2022

    March 3, 2022 /

According to “Turning Red” director Domee Shi, if you set a 13-year-old girl’s coming-of-age story in the early 2000s, it’s pretty much mandatory to include a boy band. “We needed our character Mei to be obsessed with something that her mom would not approve of,” said Shi...

    Hairy Baby: BIG HERO 6

    November 9, 2014 /

Disney's latest offering Big Hero 6 is loosely based on a Japanese-style comic strip. It features Hiro (voice of Ryan Potter), a 13 year-old genius who's already eligible for college, but thinks that's a waste of time, when he's already making big bank entering robot battle competitions with a seemingly innocuous floppy looking bot, which completely destroys the competition.  Talk about a ringer!

Everything is Awesome: THE LEGO MOVIE

    February 7, 2014 /

I never played Legos as a kid. I was a total Fisher-Price People fanatic. Still, I can appreciate how closely the animators and writer/directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, worked to make you feel like you're inside a Lego Land. Love the vehicles Legoed by the Master Builders, which come together faster than a Transformer...

epic Interview in Philly with Director Chris Wedge

    May 28, 2013 /

Le Anne Lindsay, Editor Tinsel & Tine got invited to a roundtable interview with Chris Wedge the director of the new Blue Sky Studios (Ice Age) animated movie Epic.  These types of interviews are one of my favorite things about writing Tinsel & Tine.  You have direct access to filmmakers and actors in a deluxe Center City hotel conference room, but because 3 or 4 other journalists are involved with the interview it takes  the pressure off and allows for a light-hearted, fun atmosphere, as long as no one steals your question before you can ask it 😉 Epic is a tale about the magical worlds that may co-exist with…

    Partaking: A Polite Bribe

    July 6, 2012 /

Was invited to a screening of a biopic on the Apostle Paul called A Polite Bribe by filmmaker Robert Orlando. For as long as I can remember, I’ve attended bible study classes; not continuously and never formally at a University or College, but regularly through a church.  Sadly and disgracefully, I retain very little and can regurgitate nothing.  In recent years,  I tend to go not for religious instruction, or spiritual learning, but more for historical interest. Which is the perspective of A Polite Bribe.  Told through chiaroscuro animation, a style which features a single light source, Orlando focuses on a man who possessed unwaveringly resilience and determination. Paul’s mission…
