Oscars Wrap Up – 86th Academy Awards (2014)

So by now you’ve tuned into Joan Rivers and the Joan Rangers on E’s Fashion Police; had a morning full of Al Roker and Kathy Lee Gifford’s red carpet moments; been on twitter and every other social media platform, read Perez Hilton and watched Entertainment Tonight to recap what took place Sunday night at the Oscars, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres. But for my purposes of keeping to my tradition of recapping the Oscars, I’m posting/embedding Oscar highlights from me, friends, family and Around the Web!

Hostess with the Mostess

Having bragging rights to the most retweeted selfie, officially made Ellen a superstar Oscar host!
Well, between that and the pizza delivery…

Red Carpet

A lot of nude beaded gowns, and a lot of starving actresses with super spanks,
but I think my top picks of the night were Kate Hudson & Kerry Washington

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

…lovely in it, but I think she should have done another jewel tone which really makes her skin tone pop and definitely lose the headband. Of course this is just knit picky cause the bottom line is I’m SO HAPPY LUPITA WON! What an amazing year for this new comer who is redefining Hollywood beauty. And what a poised, eloquent, perfect Oscar acceptance speech.

From the sublime to the… My brother posted this picture of Gabourey Sidibe, and I know it’s wrong, but this just really tickled my funny bone, and it’s still making me laugh!

Food

There was some bad karma going on with trying to get my Oscar Red Carpet Picnic together this year. Not even gonna go into the details, bottom line, you know I didn’t go hungry.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

 Fodder

The Stumblers Jennifer Lawrence on the red carpet & John Travolta over poor Idina Menzel’s name, made for some clever posts. Did you see this widget to Travolitify your own name?

Winners

Cate Blanchett as a boozing, socialite falling apart at the designer seams maybe my favorite character of the year.  Really liked the movie Blue Jasmine (click for T&T post). Definietly was on board with her picking up another Gold Statue!

Zeebox is a fun way to chat with people during any TV show, but particularly during Awards shows, you just join a chat room and start posting and replying;I love that your posts get turned into tweets, with the media attached, which makes for one less step during a Social Media Party!

One of the women in the chat room was super happy Matthew Mcconaughey won for Best Actor in a Leading Role.  I was rooting for Chiwetel Ejiofor, but McConaughey did earned it too, not just losing 40lbs, but it’s was a demanding role in other ways. Plus, he’s my Mom’s crush 😉
Posting my review of 20 Feet From Stardom after it won for Best Doc brought a lot of traffic to the site.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Still can’t believe the song “Happy” from the top 10 radio play and Despicable Me didn’t win.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Also

American Hustle (T&T post)

But who can complain when 12 Years A Slave won for Best Picture! It was really looking like a Gravity Landslide.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));
