SERENITY

Tinsel & Tine #MiniMovieReview SERENITY by writer/director Steven Knight (LOCKE) I was looking forward to this movie which looked like a good off-beat noir-ish indie, hopefully with a nice twist and some hot chemistry between Matthew McConaughey & Anne Hathaway. Turns out, it’s a world building sci-fi concept disguised as a bad off-beat noir-ish indie. As the reason.com reviewer Kurt Loder describes it – “it’s two different movie genres, oddly pressed together, like a grilled roach and cheese sandwich”.

The only redeeming nature of the film is for McConaughey fans who want to see him spouting existential nonsense, doing light manual labor, often naked or close to it, his still handsome weather-beaten face staring out at the ocean or squinting up at a strange bird with no revealing significance.

I’m in #MovieReviewAgreement with Dave Homes (Esquire), who “spoiler alert” gives the entire movie away, but in an amusing recap – http://ow.ly/WMeY30nADSK
