Last Christmas
by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor In my review of the “The Irishman” I admitted that I’m not the best person to review that movie as it’s just not my genre. But rom/coms, that’s something I know something about! And it’s sad when they don’t quite hit the mark; you want so badly to be charmed and yet you just can’t get there. “Last Christmas” is directed by Paul Feig (“Bridesmaids” “Spy”) and written by Bryony Kimmings and Emma Thompson, who co-wrote the story with her husband, Greg Wise. Based on the ubiquitous annual Christmas song of the same name by George Michael. Which I think comes in #2 on most…

Isn’t It Romantic
Natalie (Rebel Wilson) is told by her mother at a young, impressionable age to stop watching rom/coms cause life’s not a fantasy and especially not for girl’s that look like her. From that point on, Natalie’s approach to life and how people see her became pragmatic and limited. Want Men Want – Spotlight
by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor #MiniMovieReview WHAT MEN WANT (dir Adam Shankman) – Taraji and company deliver a solid rom-com with a lot of energy and heart. Nothing groundbreaking, but enjoyable. The wedding scene is hilarious and who knew Erykah Badu was a comedian? But mostly, I fell in love with her love interest the sweetly sexy Aldis Hodge. T&T the Large Association of Movie Blogs (aka the LAMb) rating: 3.5 outta 5 Congrats Taraji P. Henson on your Hollywood star! Much-deserved.

CRAZY RICH ASIANS
Tinsel & Tine’s look at Jon M. Chu’s CRAZY RICH ASIANS By Le Anne Lindsay, Editor Remember the first time you saw Pretty Woman and Vivienne (Julia Roberts) strolls back into the posh shop which had snubbed her on Rodeo drive, loaded with shopping bags, asking the sales person if she works on commission – “Big Mistake, Huge!” Well, there’s a similarly satisfying scene of judgement and retribution which opens the movie Crazy Rich Asians, directed by Jon M. Chu, based on a bestselling 2013 novel by Kevin Kwan. Constance Wu plays Rachel Chou, a NYU Econ professor. For the last year she’s been dating Nick Young, a guy she assumes…
