Filadelphia Latin American Film Festival Round Up

I try to stay plugged into the local Philly Film Scene, but it’s easy to get caught up in the new box office releases and miss some good stuff going on around me. I did make it to a couple of XPN Music Film Film Festival (click for post) screenings and events, but I completely dropped the ball when it came to Cinedelphia’s Film Festival. Thanks to T & T’s new blog contributor Chris “Flood the Drummer” Norris, I did attend opening night of the The Filadelfia Latin American Film Festival (held April 27-28, 2013). Susan Cherin and Chris Norris Chris’ grandmother is one of the organizers of this festival,…

Wanted: A Man! To Be A Blog Contributor That Is

I receive many submissions from freelance writers who wish to Guest Blog as a way of also promoting a link to another business.  It’s mutually beneficial in that it promotes blog traffic, still, I’m very picky when it comes to doing this. I don’t want Tinsel & Tine to become too commercial, especially since I don’t get paid to post these “Guest Posts”. I retain carte blanche when it comes to editing these pieces, and if I’m not interested in reading the article, than I don’t subject my readers to it. But Candace Smith’s submissions are a different story (See her latest review of Sinister and links to her other…

    Candi’s Corner: Sinister (On DVD)

CANDI’S CORNER I came into the game late with SINISTER.  Although a self-professed horror movie buff, I didn’t run off to the movies the weekend that Sinister premiered, much less at all. Chalk it up to being more than jaded at the latest slaughter and splatter movies of late. What happened to the psychology of the madman? I found myself looking for horror movies on YouTube, analyzing the emotional state of the debased leading ladies in Miss .45 and Thriller: A Cruel Picture.  Time passed, and as if real life wasn’t scary enough, I was suddenly in the mood for Sinister, so I did the usual- YouTube and Rotten Tomatoes…

5 BEST FOODIE FILMS FOR VALENTINE’S DAY

I had planned for my Valentine’s Day post to be a write up on the new Nicholas Sparks movie Safe Haven, but I had a major break with my best friend of 23 years (see facebook post) and never made it to the screening.   The movie looks super schmaltzy anyway. Poor Julianne Hough, she was so adorable and animated on DWTS, I would like to see her make it as an actress, but she’s only been in totally awful movies – Burlesque, Footloose, Rock of Ages, and from the trailers of this movie, I’m not sure about the chemistry between she and Josh Duhamel. Anyway, I’m happy to present a…

MERYL STREEP COSTUMES: DEVIL WEARS PRADA vs THE IRON LADY

Meryl Streep Portrays Both Style and Substance By Olan Ahern, Guest Blogger I had a writer contact me about doing a guest post for Tinsel & Tine, which is always cool!  She pitched a post on Award show fashions best and worst over the years. As much as I enjoy talking about red carpet choices in my Oscar and Golden Globe recaps, I feel this topic is covered so much better on television with video clips rather than a blog with photos. I did mention that if she wanted to zero in on one actress and examine the importance of wardrobe from one role to the next, that would be…
