Candi’s Corner: Interview with Mr. Peabody & Sherman Director Rob Minkoff

    March 7, 2014 /

Tinsel & Tine Intro: It’s nice having a staff, wish I could pay them, but at least when I can’t cover an interview or event, it’s fun to be able to send someone who I know will represent Tinsel & Tine as I would. For the interview with the director of DreamWorks Animation’s Mr. Peabody & Sherman, Rob Minkoff, T&T was represented by both Candace “Candi’s Corner” Cordelia and Draw-tographer Diane Roka. Thank you Ladies! A Dog and His Boy – “The Original Modern Family” By Contributor Candace Cordelia In the late 1950s into the early 1960s, there was once a cartoon dog named Mr. Peabody who transported audiences to…

Candi’s Corner: Interview with Robert Rodriguez, Danny Trejo, and Alexa Vega – MACHETE KILLS

    October 11, 2013 /

“Spy Kids”, Ray Liotta, and Bikinis: Robert Rodriguez, Danny Trejo, and Alexa Vega Talk “Machete Kills” in Philly By Tinsel & Tine Blog Contributor Candace Cordelia After enjoying the crazy fun of screening “Machete Kills”, I was lucky enough to sit down with Robert Rodriguez, Alexa Vega and Danny Trejo during a roundtable interview. It was wonderful to meet these three in this intimate setting and to see how close they are with one another. I must admit that I never saw the magic from all of the Spy Kids movies, but now I have to check out each one again on Netflix; I hadn’t recalled that Robert, Alexa and…

Candi’s Corner Review – Evil Dead: The Musical

    October 2, 2013 /

by Blog Contributor Candace Cordelia  There Will Be Some Blood….Evil Dead: The Musical On the fifth day since its opening, a healthy dose of people came out to see Evil Dead: The Musical, on a Sunday, which did not surprise me as Philly is a city filled with zealous horror lovers such as me, and from the looks of the crowd, I was surrounded by avid Evil Dead fans as well. I didn’t know what to expect with this musical, except a lot of singing, dancing, and blood. I was right! Well, except for the lots of blood part.  I should have known better than to think that this musical…

Candi’s Corner: The Immortal Intruments: City of Bones

    August 21, 2013 /

Keeping the Trend of Strong Females Going: The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones Review by Candice Cordelia Ever since Twilight made its entree into movie theaters six years ago, audiences, especially of the female variety, have been seeking stronger female characters on film. Television had Buffy, Dana Scully, and Khaleesi, but where on film was the next Ellen Ripley for young girls to model themselves after?  The answer to Bella Swan’s swooning, was Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence). Katniss, without superpowers, used her common sense and intelligence to best her competition under a totalitarian government. The second installment of The Hunger Games movie trilogy, Catching Fire, won’t be out until November,…

    Candi’s Corner: THE SPECTACULAR NOW

    August 21, 2013 /

In the Age of “YOLO”– A Review of The Spectacular Now By Candace Cordelia Being the good and curious film reviewer that I am, I had to read some other movie reviews about The Spectacular Now before seeing the movie. Rotten Tomatoes gave the film a 92%, certified fresh rating, with critics calling it “original”, “zesty”, “humane” with lead actors Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley, described as “wonderful” and “one of the most appealing onscreen couples in recent memory”. When so much praise is given to a movie, my first feeling is excitement… and then skepticism crawls in. There have been a lot of movies that have been called…
