Philly Food Truck: Samosa Deb (Gourmet Indian Cuisine)

    August 31, 2013 /

by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor In May (2013) I started a food truck series with Farm Truck and went to New York to feature The Ditch Witch. Then I got rather busy interviewing Lee Daniels, Cuba Gooding, Jr and Yaya Alafia for the movie The Butler, and other great film/movie posts happened, and so, it’s taken me this long to get back to my Food Truck series. Debbie Dasani – Owner/Operator/Chef of Samosa Deb   It gives me great pleasure to continue The Tinsel & Tine Food Truck Series with a new truck in Philly – SAMOSA DEB. I had a truly warm & delicious visit with Debbie Dasani at…

Serving up Mr. Darcy : AUSTENLAND

    August 30, 2013 /

Then we get to meet the men.  All hired actors, paid to be players in these women's fantasy of courtship and hot elegance. If you've ever been to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire you get the picture.  There's of course a not as good looking version of Colin Firth (J.J. Fields) a dark haired stable boy (Bret McKenzie) a gallant popinjay (James Callis) and a super sexy Captain from the West Indies (Ricky Whittle).

    Tribeca Film: SPARROWS DANCE

    August 25, 2013 /

by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor Sparrows Dance, written and directed by Noah Buschel, has the thoughtful sensibility of a foreign film – the structure, the coloring and handling of the film felt as if I should be reading subtitles.  The protagonist (Marin Ireland) suffers from the panic disorder, agoraphobia.  I call her the protagonist, because the character is never named. I’m sure there are other movieswith a nameless main character, and if you think of one, please leavea comment, but the only other film that I can think of, is my very favorite – Hitchcock’s Rebecca. So “She” hasn’t left her apartment in over a year, we see her on her…

Guest Contributor – DJReezey: THE GRANDMASTER “Yi dai zong shi”

    August 23, 2013 /

By Rashuan “DJReezey” Williams The world knows Bruce Lee, but few know his trainer, Grandmaster Ip Man (Tony Leung). Ip Man faced many adversities, and even went through a long period of suffering; this film, The Grandmaster, not only allows you to know the legend, but gives you a true martial arts experience beyond what you are used to. The movie is both entertaining, and informative, giving viewers an education on Chinese history, culture, and tradition, while keeping the story of Ip Man modest and genuine. In the beginning of the film, we find Gong Yutain (Qingxiang Wang), the grandmaster of the North, has retired and appointed his apprentice Ma San…
