Commentary- The Joneses, The Good The Bad and The Weird, Allen Iverson: No Crossover
What inevitably happens during a film festival, even a short film fest – I run out of time to write posts about each film I see in a timely fashion. Sometimes it’s because I’m trying to fit in other life between screenings, other times, I do too much socializing at the festivals, but mostly, I lack stamina, after I write one film commentary, I’m spent. So, better late than never, here’s commentary on the 3 remaining films I saw at the PFS Spring Preview: The Joneses – As I wrote in my festival announcement post, this was the one I wanted to see because of my affinity for both David…

Commentary – Exit Through The Gift Shop
This film is better than a Nike commercial in terms of being inspiring to “just do it”! I love that this guy found his bliss, fame and made millions of dollars because it never occurred to him that he couldn’t. The guy I’m referring to is Thierry Guetta a.k.a Mr. Brainwash. Foodie Film: I AM LOVE
by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor The Phila Film Fest Spring Preview opened with a beautiful Italian film, I Am Love (Io sono l’amore) Director/Writer Luca Guadagnino this film is a truly wonderful example of food in film. There’s a lot of wonderful tactile food preparation and eating of incredible dishes. I love a scene in which a recipe for a Russian fish soup is being disclosed while in the midst of sexual intercourse. The cinematographer zooms in on the colors and the splendors of not only the culinary succulence, but also the natural surroundings of Milan. The film also showcases the modern architecture of the Recchi family’s opulent mansion, where…

Philadelphia Film Festival Spring Preview
Philadelphia Film Festival Spring Preview, presented by Pennsylvania Hospital (click HERE for film schedule) opened last evening at the Prince Theater featuring complimentary candy and Tastykakes, so for the second night in a row, my dinner consisted of alcohol and cake! I’m a firm believer in aligning with the Universe, which in simple terms means when you really want something or to do something, focus, think about the benefit and the joy of it and believe it’s possible without contradiction. Not as easy as it sounds, and timing is not always up to you, but I have seen it work numerous times in my life and it makes me wonder…
