WOLFWALKERS Live Virtual Q&A

Accolade PR invited several film writers to a Live Virtual Q&A with the Art Directors, Sound Editors and Composer of the animated film written and directed by Tomm Moore and Ross Stewart. Irish animation studio Cartoon Saloon is behind Wolfwalkers, produced by Apple TV. Previous Award Winning Cartoon Saloon offerings include The Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea and The Breadwinner.

WolfWalkers Synopsis: In a time of superstition and magic, when wolves are seen as demonic and nature an evil to be tamed, a young apprentice hunter, Robyn, comes to Ireland with her father to wipe out the last pack. But when Robyn saves a wild native girl, Mebh, their friendship leads her to discover the world of the Wolfwalkers and transform her into the very thing her father is tasked to destroy.

It’s an enchanting film animated in a storybook, 2D illustrated style. I love European folklore and Cryptozoology, so the story was engaging to me from the beginning. I also think girls who fell in love with Elsa and Anna’s sisterhood, will enjoy tapping into Robyn and Mebh’s, friendship. There’s a wonderful theme of freedom and female power that runs throughout the imaginative story and hand drawn images.
