    The trick to this movie is the music, it’s really a sound track with a movie instead of a movie with a soundtrack, but I say that admiring the creative concept. Baby always listens to music on his headphones, especially while driving, as a way to both soundtrack his life and drown out the ringing tinnitus in his ears....

    For me, The Hunger Games is an alright movie franchise, it probably would hold even less appeal for me if I didn’t like Jennifer Lawrence so much – she’s got a quality that’s part girl from the wrong side of the tracks, without cheap skin or hair; she seems sensible and mature, and at the same time, fun and fresh; she’s got edge without the apathy of a Kristen Stewart.  In other words, she has the presence to carry off a movie that’s mostly production and atmosphere.  I mean, I get the creativity behind Suzanne Collins’ Dystopian world, brought to life by directors Gary Ross and then Francis Lawrence.     Acclaimed Broadway Musical ONCE Coming to Philly!

    I’ve only seen the movie Once – well, once, in the theater in 2006, two years before starting Tinsel & Tine, so I never wrote about it, but it’s always stuck with me.  There’s a strangely magical simplicity to this little love story between a Dublin guitarist / singer-songwriter (Glen Hansard) who makes a living by fixing vacuum cleaners and this Czech girl (Markéta Irglová) who plays piano when she gets a chance, and does odd jobs by day and takes care of her mom and her daughter by night.  The soundtrack also struck a chord with me – particularly the song “Falling Slowly”, which I still listen to fairly…
