Guest Blogger: Gorging on Gotti
I was set up on a blind date over the Labor Day weekend and believe it or not, it actually worked out! (See Tinsel & Tine facebook page for more details). His name is James Bradford, and best of all he loves my two favorite things – We’ve had many of dining experiences together (posts forthcoming). And he’s also a film buff and good writer. Here’s his first guest post, comparing and contrasting the 4 movies based on the life of John Gotti: On December 16, 1985, John Joseph Gotti, a capo (a high ranking made member of a crime family who heads a “crew” of soldiers), holding membership in…

Diner en Blanc – Guest Blogger The Bicycle Chef
My friend and fellow blogger Denine Gorniak aka The Bicycle Chef was among the select guests invited to participate in the amazingly chic food event called Diner en Blanc! What is Diner en Blanc? – There are about a dozen or so now. Most take place in Europe and total several hundred members each year. The most important Dîner en Blanc, which was also the starting point of the movement, is the one in Paris. Instigated over 25 years ago with a handful of friends. At the last minute, the location is given to friends and acquaintances who have been patiently waiting to learn the “Dîner en Blanc’s” secret place.…

The Twilight Saga: A Franchise to Sink Your Teeth Into
One thing you haven’t seen me write about on Tinsel & Tine is the Twilight Movies and I can’t tell you why. I’m not one of those that hate things just because they’re popular. I’ve always enjoyed The Harry Potter franchise and Chronicles of Narnia, so it’s not as if I feel Twilight is aimed at too young a demographic. Kristen Stewart gives off this persona of being ultra self-conscience and at the same time, judge & jury of what is cool or uncool. Which is annoying to me, but certainly wouldn’t keep me away from a movie. I know…

Book to Film: One Day
I’m always open to guest bloggers on Tinsel & Tine! Although normally those I asked to write something, always say – “Yes, great I’d like to do that”, and then never write a bleeping word. Those that contact me, of course want to include a link. Which is fine as long as the link goes to something above board, and most importantly, the post is well-written and pertaining to film or food or ideally both. Please enjoy guest post by Rose Redding: ———————————————————————————— Commentary: One Day When David Nicholls’s novel, One Day, hit bookshelves back in 2009 it quickly became a phenomenon. After being translated into 31 languages it appeared…

Technically, It is Food in Film – LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS
Imagine Skid Row --a place of dire destitution that not even the most wretched of wretches could conceive of as a home. This is the setting for a frightening frolic into the minds of a few hungry souls roaming the streets...
