Tinsel & Tine was invited to sample more great food in Philly at the Ya Gotta Try This Tasting Party to benefit Second Chance Foundation The event took place at the Independence Visitor Center, (One North Independence Mall) and was chaired by Second Chance Foundation Board of Director Mike Jerrick host of Fox 29′s Good Day Philadelphia. Local readers may be familiar with Mike’s weekly “Ya Gotta Try This” segments on Good Day Philadelphia, where he visits local restaurants and eating establishments to try their signature, and sometimes, unusual, dishes. Commentary – Bully
Philadelphia Film Society (click to read PFS member’s comments on this film) hosted a preview screening of Bully, formerly called The Bully Project. Which actually was screened in October during the 20th Philadelphia Film Festival, but I, and many others didn’t pay it much attention. It deserves attention. Director/Writer/Producer/Cinematographer Lee Hirsch who was bullied throughout his childhood, wanted to make a film that would give voice to kids who deal with this torment on a daily basis. His camera follows the lives of 3 kids currently being tortured: verbally, mentally, physically, but oddly, only a mention is made of cyber bullying, which is so prevalent today. Nanny McPhee drops into Philly
PFS sent me on a fun assignment yesterday to cover Emma Thompson doing a Nanny McPhee Q & A and book signing for children invited from local organizations. Click HERE to read post and view pics. I also saw that Emma first made a stop at “Good Day Philadelphia” Stay tuned tomorrow for my commentary on Eat, Pray, Love if you’ve ever taken a look at my profile, I’ve always listed this as my favorite book, so needless to say, I was anxious to see if the movie measured up.
