    MOVIE NIGHT MENUS

    July 17, 2024 /

I've seen The Philadelphia Story close to a dozen times, so it's funny that I don't remember the Stingers or Uncle Willy referring to them as "a formula that's said to pop the pennies off the eyelids of dead Irishmen." But I'll be looking out for this scene next time.  Maybe I'll even try stirring up this mint and brandy concoction, although it doesn't sound like a very appealing mix.

A Little Film, A Little Food: DEMOLITION / New BBQ Menu at NICK’S IN OLD CITY

    April 17, 2016 /

Jake Gyllenhaal Good and Crazy Again By Le Anne Lindsay, Editor I was looking at Jake Gyllenhaal’s body of work. Because it seems like he’s one of those actors you see all the time (since “Brokeback Mountain”), but then when I really looked at his recent movies “Accidental Love” “SouthPaw” “Prisoners” “Everest” “Nightcrawler” the only one I’ve seen is “Nightcrawlers”, which is excellent! Similarly in this movie, “Demolition”, you’re pulled in by Gyllenhaal, despite the character’s lack of feelings and erratic behavior. You must destroy to rebuild or as German philosopher Friedrich Nietzche would claim, “You must have…

Food and Film: STUDIO MOVIE GRILL Review / Quick The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 2 Review

    November 28, 2015 /

A Quick "The Hunger Games" Bottom Line: Kinda glad to be done with this franchise, if it wasn't for Jennifer Lawrence they would have lost me after the 2nd one.  I've never been invested in her choice of  Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) or Gale (Liam Hemsworth) and President Snow (Donald Sutherland) has been dying inside, spitting up blood since before the games begun, so really all they needed to do was wait out the inevitable and then more easily stage a coup...
