    DOLEMITE IS MY NAME

    October 1, 2019 /

I wanted to give more time to this review with it being Eddie Murphy, in a role that suits him perfectly – but once again, I’ve had zero time to write, between work and seeing 4 movies this week. Going in, I thought Dolemite Is My Name (Directed by Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow) was going to parody a fictional Blaxploitation film with a fictional Eddie Murphy character; but when I realized it’s based on actual events and the real brother who embodied Dolemite, it brings another level of enjoyment to the film! It puts me in mind of James Franco’s THE DISASTER ARTIST where he played the oddly legendary…

    Phantom Thread

    January 17, 2018 /

The film takes place in 1950’s London and is about a very fussy fashion designer named Reynolds Woodcock, played by Daniel Day-Lewis, (who claims this is his final movie role, we’ll see about that). Woodcock is a genius at his craft, but he’s also full of himself, and seems to suffer from OCD and HSP (highly sensitive person) which is really a thing. He can’t stand noises, even stuff like people chewing. Everything must be routine. He has to be told about certain matters only at certain carefully chosen moments or he goes off...

Movie Blog Post: THE BOOK OF HENRY

    June 19, 2017 /

Tinsel & Tine’s Look at THE BOOK OF HENRY By Le Anne Lindsay, Editor Every minute I was walking the tightrope you’re talking about, every step of the way. And as a result…I never had a moment on Jurassic World where I was as consumed with fear and anxiety about what I was doing as I did on The Book of Henry. But I recognize everything that is dangerous about the choices that the movie makes and I know that if not handled with care, and arguably, if not handled delicately, it’s something that could fall apart. Even if the performances were terrible, it’s something that could fall apart. I…

Movie Blog Post: THE ZOOKEEPER’S WIFE

    April 5, 2017 /

Every time a movie like this comes out, I think Oh boy, another Holocaust movie. I feel the same way about a Slave Narratives. But then, inevitably the filmmaker finds a way to once again awaken you to the horrors of these inhumane atrocities in a new way...
