    Interview with TYLER PERRY

    October 21, 2016 /

By Le Anne Lindsay I’ve now interviewed both Ava DuVernay and Tyler Perry, do you realize how close that puts me to being in Oprah’s sphere! Photo credit: Allied Philly Tyler Perry was in Philadelphia earlier this month to promote his latest movie Boo! A Madea Halloween. He walked the red carpet and introduced the film to an enthusiastic Philly audience. The next day, just a few select outlet, (yours truly included!) and the young kid who sung for the Pope, Bobby Hill, got a chance to individually meet and chat with the entertainment mogul at the Ritz Carlton Hotel. T&T: I read somewhere that when you directed your first…

Movie Blog Post: So Proud of Nate Parker and his film The Birth of A Nation

    October 9, 2016 /

STILL TIME TO RALLY AROUND THE REAL ISSUES OF THE BIRTH OF A NATION By Tinsel & Tine Editor, Le Anne Lindsay I’m certainly not trying to be insensitive to the horrors of rape or suicide. But come on people, this movie is not the platform for that discussion. Nate Parker was not convicted of a crime and has grown up to have a beautiful family and a seven year journey to bringing forth his film – The Birth of a Nation. It is time to rejoice about hard work, dedication, patience and talent paying off –  to Research/Write/Act/Direct/Secure Funding/Go Broke etc.. takes a lot of stamina and heart and…

Filmmaker Interview: Matt Johnson OPERATION AVALANCHE

    September 23, 2016 /

I was really impressed with this movie, it's clever to imagine two hot shot CIA neophytes pulling off the caper of all capers. Then there's the camera work. Yes, "Found Footage" tends to now be denigrated a bit, and there are a couple times you don't feel the camera would've been rolling, but for the most part, it creates a fantastic storytelling device, and...

19th Annual Philadelphia Film Festival Coverage – M. Night Shyamalan

    October 23, 2010 /

Q&A with M. Night Shyamalan for 10 Anniversary of UNBREAKABLE during #PFF19 The Prince was packed last night for the 10th Anniversary screening of Unbreakable (starring Bruce Willis, Samuel L Jackson & Robin Wright Penn). Yes, it’s a good movie, worth revisiting on the big screen, but the crowded theater of excited people were truly there to see and hear from the film’s director and master of all things eerie – M. Night Shyamalan! You could tell Shyamalan really wanted to be there to share his thoughts on Unbreakable and filmmaking in general. Too bad there was another film scheduled after his Q & A, otherwise I think he would…
