PUZZLE
I SO recommend this film. PUZZLE is one of those quiet films full of authenticity, great character development and fine layers. The surprising humor found in Kelly Macdonald & Irrfan Khan’s characters as they get to know one another while practicing for a doubles puzzle championship is completely winning. Will definitely be on my top 10 list for 2018. The director Marc Turtletaub was motivated to direct Puzzle for a personal reason… “It’s a story about a woman who’s a mother and a wife living in suburban Connecticut, doting on her husband and her sons. And I knew that woman – it was my mother. I grew up in suburban…

Movie Blog Post: I, TONYA
Tinsel & Tine Welcomes Back Contributor Terri L. Heard Smashdance: ‘I, Tonya’ Revisits the Crash-and-burn Celebrity of Figure Skater Tonya Harding At the climax of the film I, TONYA, Margot Robbie, starring as infamous figure skater Tonya Harding, graces us with a rictus grin – both horrifying and heartbreaking – as she applies her makeup before taking to the ice at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway. All three…

I don’t picture someone as confident, beautiful and sexy as Michael Acosta (Edgar Ramirez) or a loser kinda guy like Kenny Wells (Matthew McConaughey) and I certainly don’t think Bromance, but that’s what you get in director Stephen Gaghan (Writers: Patrick Massett, John Zinman) GOLD. Let’s define a few basics: “Bedrock” is the solid hard rock of the…

TINSEL & TINE QUICK YEAR IN REVIEW By Le Anne Lindsay, Editor It was a busy, fun year in Philly/Foodie Events too, but you can see a wrap up of those posts on the #PhillySpotlight page. So this is just a run down of some movie highlights from 2016: 1. The First Movie I Saw in 2016 was 45 YEARS starring 2 actor’s actors Charlotte Rampling & Tom Courtenay (it was part of last year’s Awards season, but in Philly it was released in January). 45 Years is one of those unassuming, quiet, yet very powerful and memorable films about an older couple examining their marriage in light of some…

A big part of her personality is her appearance (Costume designer Rebecca Gregg). She wears a ridiculous hairpiece that creates a bird’s nest atop her hair which she adorns with all manner of gaudy scarfs and headbands...
