    Movie Blog Post: GIRLS TRIP

    July 24, 2017 /

Tinsel & Tine’s Look at GIRLS TRIP By Le Anne Lindsay, Editor I first saw the trailer for Girls Trip back in like February or March and thought it looked pretty good and in addition to the known cast of Jada Pinkett Smith, Regina Hall and Queen Latifah, I saw it had the team of super producer Will Packer (THINK LIKE A MAN, Ride Along, ALMOST CHRISTMAS, STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON and many more) and the talents of director Malcolm D. Lee (The Best Man and THE BEST MAN HOLIDAY) but still I worried that the movie would fall flat, that it wouldn’t have cross over appeal both to other races…

Leeway Foundation Screening: MAYA ANGELOU AND STILL I RISE

    April 2, 2017 /

by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor The Leeway Foundation presented a film event at the Community College of Philadelphia which featured the documentary  MAYA ANGELOU AND STILL I RISE by filmmakers Bob Hercules and Rita Coburn Whack. What a full and inspiring life Dr. Maya Angelou lead as a singer, dancer, activist, poet, writer and director. The doc originally aired on PBS a month or so ago, but I’m so glad I got to see it on a bigger screen in the company of others who also felt the power and love this woman gave…

Writer/Director Maris Curran in Philly: FIVE NIGHTS IN MAINE

    March 7, 2016 /

Sherwin arrives at Lucinda's large farmhouse and is met by her nurse, Ann (Rosie Perez). He's told Lucinda isn't feeling well and will see him at dinner, which is a palpably uncomfortable meal. There's no anger or blatant hostility, but here's two people with only one thing in common, they loved the same person, a person who they're both still in the throes of grief over, yet grieving very differently...

Philly Dining: LUNA CAFE Interview with Proprietor Sarah Levine

    February 27, 2016 /

by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor One of the pleasures of running Tinsel & Tine is when I get to work from coffee shops… I just love to find a cute, cozy one and create a little office for a couple of hours.  There’s something about having the energy of others around me, but not involved, that creates a pleasant work atmosphere.  But when a coffee shop is actually a little cafe, I’m in heaven!  Although in this case, I didn’t discover this week’s Philly Spotlight, Sarah Levine of Luna Cafe (317 Market Street Philadelphia 19106), she discovered me, on Instagram, and invited me for a tasting! Soon as I saw…
