    mother!

    September 17, 2017 /

My first impression of this film by auteur Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan) is that it’s wack, self-indulgent and a sheer waste of time. But then, given more time to ruminate on it, break it down, look at the allegories, I did discover some beauty in the madness. But not enough to take the time and energy to put it all down in black and white.  Especially after I discovered this perfectly dissected review on Silver Screen Riots : mother!’ is not the movie you think it is but it remains one of 2017’s most provocative and engaging examples of auteur filmmaking. 19th Annual Philadelphia Film Festival – BLACK SWAN Darren Aronofsky Q & A

    October 16, 2010 /

Q: Was the film Perfect Blue an inspiration for this film? A: Not really, there are similarities between the films, but it wasn’t influenced by it. The Wrestler

    January 17, 2009 /

Part of this year's buzz highlights Mickey Rourke's come back performance and Marisa Tomei's hot, 40 year old, nude body. The former is worth the hubbub - Rourke is truly living this role! The latter is a bit overrated - the poor woman is emaciated in this film. No. Don't go assuming I'm a Mo' Nique that hates "Skinny Bitches"...
