Goose Island Beer Migration Week in Philly RECAP
My latest blogging invitation came from Chicago based Goose Island Beer, a craft beer company started by John Hall, 25 years ago, upon his return from traveling throughout Europe. Goose Island Beer is currently on a Migration tour to visit beer loving cities in the US and one of the first stops of course, was Philly! Philly Restaurant – Tria (XPN Music Film Fest)
My other dining experience during the music film festival was Sunday afternoon at Tria (3131 Walnut Street). My sister had given me a gift certificate for Christmas and this was the perfect time to make use of it. This spot used to be called Biba, same owner, Jon Myerow who has Tria cafes in Rittenhouse Square and Washington Square West. But this location was going to focus on wines, so it was given a different moniker. However, now it appears to just be a 3rd Tria. Beer Tasting – Left Hand Brewing Company
I stumble upon a beer tasting at the Plymouth Meeting Whole Foods earlier this month. And took a liking to all of the selections Dan Conway from Left Hand Brewing Company (Longmont, Colorado) was pouring, although if I had to pick a favorite, I’d go with the Milk Stout. I asked Dan if I could record his descriptions of all the brews and he agreed so here it is: Milk Stout – Made with lactose sugar (milk infused sugar) which gives it the creamy texture – aroma is of brown sugar and vanilla cream, with hints of roasted coffee.
