Super #MiniMovieReviews
by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor
I just can’t write even a #MiniMovieReview for everything I see, as it still requires research and contemplative writing to create my goal of “A lot said in a modicum of words”.
Which means there’s a lot of stuff I only post to social media which disappears from my feed too quickly; so that’s what this page is for, the even quicker or “Super” Mini Movie Reviews and random thoughts, including Misc TV & Entertainment Tidbits.

CHAD
CHAD @TBSNetwork premieres tonight (4/6) 10:30pm the late time slot because although Nasim Pedrad plays a 14 year-old, the series skews older and it’s funny, in the most cringe worthy of ways. Saw #SXSW preview https://t.co/Kywkex8aW6 pic.twitter.com/uJJRtceuF9

MY OCTOPUS TEACHER
#Oscars2021 Countdown – I just watched @netflix MY OCTOPUS TEACHER these creatures are like superheros, they’ve got all kinds of powers and tricks up their tentacles. And also, the whole relationship put me in mind of “Charlotte’s Web”

THE MAURITANIAN
#TheMauritanian dir Kevin Macdonald starring Jodie Foster “I’d rather make movies that I care about that are really meaningful that I feel like really stand for something than make a whole bunch of movies,” Foster says.

Vintage #SuperMiniMovieReview: CRIMES OF THE HEART
I just watched CRIMES OF THE HEART (1986) for the first time. Didn’t love it. Too much exposition and screeching. I bet it’s weird to play melodrama cause you’re supposed to chew the scenery. Sissy Spacek is luminous, surprisingly outshining Jessica Lange pic.twitter.com/uAmkyyiXbJ

Mad About You Reboot
Just found the @madaboutyoutv reboot on @PrimeVideo this used to be one of my favorite shows. Helen Hunt & Paul Reiser timing still works. Good casting on college age Mable (Abby Quinn) Fun, nostalgic watch
— Tinsel & Tine (@tinseltine) January 25, 2021#MadAboutYou pic.twitter.com/WPQnGCABx4
I really enjoyed this 12 episode reboot of “Mad About You” the entire rhythm of the show picked up where it left off. Definitely felt like these people stayed together the last 20 odd years loving and annoying the hell outta each other. Mark remarrying a black woman (Kecia Lewis) after Fran left him seemed exactly what that character would have done, and damn she can sing!
PHILADELPHIA’s LANDMARK RITZ 5

Super #MiniMovieReview THE FATHER
Watched THE FATHER starring Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Coleman, it’s almost as confusing as TENET but also heartbreaking, it hurts to see a grown man call out for his mother, especially when you think of that man as Hannibal Lecter https://t.co/SG7bjwiEAI via @YouTube

Super #MiniMovieReview NEWS OF THE WORLD
I can’t explain why this off-the-cuff post on “News of the World”, caught organic lightening! I posted it at Midnight after watching the screener as just a first thoughts type of thing. But look how many views, likes, comments and shares, the most ever for any post of my 11 years doing this. I didn’t spend a dime and it continues to get attention everyday since I posted – weird!

SAVE YOURSELVES
Written & Directed Eleanor Wilson & Alex Huston Fischer
A young Brooklyn couple ((Sunita Mani & John Paul Reynolds)) head to an upstate cabin to unplug from their phones and reconnect with each other. Blissfully unaware of their surroundings, they are left to their own devices as the planet falls under attack.

NETFLIX THE TRIAL OF THE CHICAGO 7
Written & Directed by Aaron Sorkin
Starring: Eddie Redmayne, Joseph Gordon-Levitt Sacha Baron Cohen, Mark Rylance
Tinsel & Tine Super #MiniMovieReview THE TRIAL OF THE CHICAGO 7 yet another travesty in American History and yet so entertainingly retold. It’s obvious Aaron Sorkin loved writing for the Abbie Hoffman character.

I have to go back and watch the final episode of THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL-AIR I know they sold the house, but I can’t really remember what happened to each character…
The FRESH PRINCE OF BEL-AIR REUNION on @hbomax was everything! But especially the reunion with the OG Aunt Viv (Janet Hubert) & Will Smith, that was something to witness. So human, So real

THE QUEEN’S GAMBIT on Netflix!
Starring Anya Taylor-Joy
#QueensGambit AGREE! Love this sentence “The show is ambitious, beautiful, and creative. For the love of god, it finds a way to inject sex appeal into chess. It hints at trauma enough to belong just fine in this TV moment while at the same time breaking away from it.”
— Tinsel & Tine (@tinseltine) November 12, 2020

T&T’s THE TRIP post from 2011
T&T’s THE TRIP TO ITALY POST FROM 2014
Was Very Upset to Hear The Regal Riverview
Movie Theater had to Throw in the Towel.
I get it, but it’s another sign that returning to movie theaters post-COVID may not be a thing…

If You Haven’t seen UPLOAD on Amazon Prime – See it before Season 2 starts! Really one of my favorite escapes during the early days of Sheltering in Place…
UPLOAD – (on Amazon Greg Daniels) It’s crazy to me that I love this show because I don’t just dislike but down deep hate THE OFFICE, PARKS AND RECREATION and KING OF THE HILL – I know that’s sacrilege to a lot of people, but in fact, if I had known Upload was a Greg Daniels show before watching, I wouldn’t have started it. But this show seems to have a completely different kind of absurdist tone that sits well with me that the others don’t.
Upload takes place in the not too distant future. The main character is Nathan Brown (Robbie Amell) he’s a very good looking white guy who dies, well actually he’s killed, which the audience knows but we don’t know really why. Well, that not actually true either, he’s nearly killed and convinced to Upload. Most everyone else thinks his death was the result of a malfunctioning self-driving car. Anyway, his consciousness or soul is uploaded to a “digital afterlife program.” It’s like a permanent resort or retirement village called Lakeview. He can still call and chat with his living friends and family, and he can see what’s happening on giant screens. But the technology doesn’t yet exist to download deceased people back into a physical body. In fact it’s messy when they try.
Lakeview is created and run by a big Amazon like corporation, who tries to sell them stuff within the program, added extras as if you were in a video game. And it’s things like this that really make me a fan of the series, because the show is more sci-fi than comedy, although there are two very funny side characters (Aleesh, Zainab Johnson & Luke, Kevin Bigley). There’s great world building going on. They think of little details, like they can simulate peeing, but the stream never misses the toilet and they can have simulated sex with someone in the real world if that person is wearing a sensitivity suit and just other great things and malfunctions that you imagine would happen if this kinda consciousness uploading was an actual business.
Nathan’s rather vacuous girlfriend Ingrid (Allegra Edwards) pays for his After-life – only, he was trying to breakup with her before his death, now he’s beholden to her. Only, he’s falling for Nora (Andy Allo) the Customer Service Rep for Lakeview, what they call “Angels”, Nora is this cute mixed race chick who lives in the real world and she’s found herself becoming too close to Nathan which is forbidden on the job and she’s also helping to solve the case of his murder…
Be Sure To Return for More Tidbits…
