Philly Spotlight: Entrepreneur Works – TASTE OF SUCCESS
15th Annual TASTE OF SUCCESS:
A Cook-off/Bake-off Event
Supporting the Philadelphia Region’s Local Entrepreneurs
By Le Anne Lindsay, Tinsel & Tine Editor
I’ve been aware of Entrepreneur Works for some time, so it’s odd that this was the first year knowing about and attending their Cook-off/Bake-off contest called “Taste of Success”, which is in its 15th year. 12 food entrepreneurs got the chance to enter a winning appetizer or dessert in a competition for cash prizes. The
contestants were judged by two top local chefs: Chef /Owner Joncarl Lachman of NOORD and Chef/Owner Lee Styer of FOND. For the fifth consecutive year, Taste of Success was hosted by Jim Donovan, co-anchor with CBS 3 Philly’s Eyewitness News This Morning (exclusive media sponsor of #TOS2017).
During the evening, Entrepreneur Works also presented awards to their Hall of Fame Inductees:
Ibrahim Suma-Keita of Suma Home Care, Inc. and Latasha Sampson of Chocolate City Hair Studio & Day Spa. The respective start up phases of both businesses, were greatly benefited by EW in the form of small business training, loans and guidance.

A couple of years ago I went to Entrepreneur Works for a little guidance on how to take Tinsel & Tine from a blog to a business. They were friendly, caring and responsive, but other than suggesting Affiliate Marketing, which I’d already tried unsuccessfully, they could not assist me; however, if you have a tangible business or trying to start a business with a more traditional model or product, Entrepreneur Works is a wonderful resource.
Entrepreneur Works is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating pathways of opportunity for hundreds of talented yet underserved Philadelphia-area entrepreneurs each year, with a focus on serving low-to-moderate income, minority, immigrant and women entrepreneurs.
