Philly Restaurant – Indian Restaurant (1634 South Street)

Indian Restaurant on Urbanspoon

I think it’s funny that the name of this Indian food restaurant is Indian Restaurant. Makes you wonder if they just gave up on trying to agree on a name.

It’s only been open since March, the dining room is new, fresh, nice, not a lot of character, but traditionally decorated, white table cloths, preset with cloth napkins.  I arrived for an early dinner today (Sunday) around 4pm and had the place entirely to myself; they seem to do more of a take-out business, although it’s very pricey for take-out.

The staff was attentive without being annoying.  I sat in the restaurant for over two hours watching a streaming seminar on my phone. Was lucky enough to sit next to an outlet. No one seemed to mind or rush me with the check. Around 6pm two more guests arrived for dinner.

I had the Lamb Saagtender lamb w/fresh spinach, coriander & other fragrant herbs: 3 Tines.
Entree price $13.95, but does not come w/ naan ( unleavened bread) that was an extra $2.50.  The dish was savory and moderately spicy, nothing to rave about, but certainly enjoyable, no complaints.
