Wanted: A Man! To Be A Blog Contributor That Is
I receive many submissions from freelance writers who wish to Guest Blog as a way of also promoting a link to another business. It’s mutually beneficial in that it promotes blog traffic, still, I’m very picky when it comes to doing this. I don’t want Tinsel & Tine to become too commercial, especially since I don’t get paid to post these “Guest Posts”. I retain carte blanche when it comes to editing these pieces, and if I’m not interested in reading the article, than I don’t subject my readers to it. But Candace Smith’s submissions are a different story (See her latest review of Sinister and links to her other…

Candi’s Corner: Sinister (On DVD)
CANDI’S CORNER I came into the game late with SINISTER. Although a self-professed horror movie buff, I didn’t run off to the movies the weekend that Sinister premiered, much less at all. Chalk it up to being more than jaded at the latest slaughter and splatter movies of late. What happened to the psychology of the madman? Help Restore the Roxy! Supporting The Philadelphia Film Society
The Philadelphia Film Society, the organization which produces the annual Philadelphia Film Festival, will assume operations and reopen the Roxy Theater located in Philadelphia’s historic Rittenhouse Square neighborhood. It will operate as a first-run independent theater, providing festival-type films all year long. The Roxy is due for a facelift, as it has not undergone major building maintenance, upgrades to seating, wall treatments, or carpeting for countless years. Projection updates are also needed, to make the necessary transition from 35mm film projection to digital. In order to attract patrons, the Roxy needs to be welcoming, clean, and state-of-the-art. Restore The Roxy KickStarter Campaign The PFS Theater at the Roxy will provide…

HOME BREWING with Melissa B
Although Chili and Beer go great together, this is not the same Melissa featured in my Chili Cook Off Contest post. I met this Melissa at a Media Beer Ladies event at Yards Brewing Company. The Media Beer Ladies (facebook page) run by Brooke Penders is a club which combines two beloved traditions: girls night out and drinking great beer! With our Yards tour and tasting complete, we each selected a full glass of our favorite beer (mine the dark, chocolaty Love Stout) and sat down to get to know each other. Melissa revealed that she recently began brewing her own beer at home. Something she figured as a Microbiologist,…

Love this Craig LaBan Article on Philly Dining Scene
Image: Philly.com …In the two years he’s been back, Lawler has learned how to keep his guests happy: “People in Philly don’t care if it’s new or never been done before,” Lawler says. “They’re spending their own money [versus expense accounts], and they want the food to taste good. That might sound obvious, but it has nothing to do with the level of refinement or sophistication. They want a pleasant meal and they don’t want fluff. They want substance.” READ MORE Philly Food Blog
