Here’s What They’re Saying About: THE HUNGER GAMES MOCKINGJAY PART 1

    November 23, 2014 /

For me, The Hunger Games is an alright movie franchise, it probably would hold even less appeal for me if I didn’t like Jennifer Lawrence so much – she’s got a quality that’s part girl from the wrong side of the tracks, without cheap skin or hair; she seems sensible and mature, and at the same time, fun and fresh; she’s got edge without the apathy of a Kristen Stewart.  In other words, she has the presence to carry off a movie that’s mostly production and atmosphere.  I mean, I get the creativity behind Suzanne Collins’ Dystopian world, brought to life by directors Gary Ross and then Francis Lawrence. And…

Love, Sacrifice and Black Holes: THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING

    November 20, 2014 /

by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor My first thought, well not first, but second or third thought after seeing The Theory of Everything was –  how could someone all crippled up with ALS, who can’t even feed himself, have a better sex life than me!?! Stephen Hawking’s, (Sheldon Cooper’s idol for any Big Bang Theory fans) life is proof that our sheer mental will, along with the love of a good woman, can work miracles. Diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS) after tripping through the ivory courtyards of Cambridge University; Hawking, played with great honesty by Eddie Redmayne, is told he has this degenerative motor neurons affliction and is given 2…

Have You Heard: BEYOND THE LIGHTS

    November 14, 2014 /

by Contributor Terri Heard I was listening to The Movie Man’s 6 Second Review for Beyond the Lights this morning on the Elvis Duran Show and I just knew he was going to give a curt dismissal ending in “I’m Out” –  But he was IN! He gave it a more than six second rave! Not that I need validation from The Movie Man to like or support a movie, but it did prove this movie has cross over appeal, not just with white and black audiences but, male and female. You know who else really liked the movie? Another new Tinsel & Tine Blog Contributor – Terri Heard.  I…
