TODAY IS NATIONAL COFFEE DAY! Coffee is my drug of choice – I love the ritual of it, the smell of it brewing, the taste on its own, but particularly with a goodie or pizza or at a diner with a burger. I’ve only seen the movie Once – well, once, in the theater in 2006, two years before starting Tinsel & Tine, so I never wrote about it, but it’s always stuck with me. There’s a strangely magical simplicity to this little love story between a Dublin guitarist / singer-songwriter (Glen Hansard) who makes a living by fixing vacuum cleaners and this Czech girl (Markéta Irglová) who plays piano when she gets a chance, and does odd jobs by day and takes care of her mom and her daughter by night.
