TOP 50 MOVIES I CAN WATCH AGAIN AND AGAIN

I use Letterboxd to keep track of all the movies I see to comprise my Best & Worst List at the end of the year. And it’s such a fun tool that I decided to do a list of the Top 50 Movies that I can and have watched over and over again!

These are the movies that if I find it on TV, I’ve gotta watch it to the end, no matter what point it’s at. The ones that I get a hankering for, maybe not annually, but every couple of years.

There’s a lot of good movies missing from this list, but these are the ones that make me feel good!
I found that most are associated with what I was watching as a teen into my 20’s.

I wondered if my sister, LeVonne Lindsay, (2 years my junior) and I would have a similar list, as we shared a room and friends and everything growing up, so I asked her to do one too. (she decided to do Top 40) There’s definitely crossover, but mine is musicals heavy and hers is franchise heavy.

The ranking is based on how often I’ve seen the movie.

In Chronological Order

First of all, I absolutely cannot do favorites without some parameters, so:
1. I eliminated all movies from the last ten years because they haven’t had enough time to marinate yet.

2. If the movie has sequels that I also watch repeatedly (or don’t), I only listed the first movie and made a note.

3. I only chose movies that had a significant impact on me the first time I saw it AND that I continued to watch multiple times over several years. These movies defined a particular time in my life or set the bar for me in their genre.  As you’ll see, 1996 was HUGE.

4. I embraced being a basic bitch. Some of these movies are mediocre, terrible, and/or highly problematic, and I don’t care. You should have seen the honorable mentions that didn’t make the cut.

And there you have it! My top 40 before (I turned) 40 (years old)
