Tinsel & Tine Mini-Hiatus

As previously mentioned, I was hired to write posts, fb & tweet out social media for Philadelphia Cinema Alliances’ QFEST 2011! The festival runs July 7th – 18th, but I’ve been at it steadily for the last two weeks; so be sure to check out the Qblog.

Now that I’m blogging for both film organizations in Philadelphia, a full-time career in this arena can’t be far away!?

Actually, I had some apprehension about accepting the QFest gig for three reasons:

1) As many Philly readers know, there once was only one non-profit film association, until a couple of years ago when there was a nasty split. I never chose sides; just got lucky that Philadelphia Film Society asked if I’d blog for them since I was covering Philly film events on T & T anyway. Still, when Qfest contacted me, I did feel pangs of disloyalty. But no worries, all is fine. I’ll return to PFS after QFest and they will benefit from the smartphone/camcorder/wireless modem I bought for QFest, and will use when hired to blog for The Philadelphia Film Festival coming in October.

2) I recently started a day gig through a temp agency. After being out of work for over a year, and getting close to living in my car, I’m not looking to jeopardize steady income for a freelance job, no matter how much I’d prefer to be blogging. But by the grace, a flex schedule was approved that hopefully will work for both sides and me!

3) I’m Not Gay! Won’t the QFest audience be looking for a voice similar to their own? Probably, to that end, for my first blog post, I attempted a Darling Diva persona, an adore me and take me under your wing approach. (See PDF below). But this was shot down by the powers that be at PCA.

(function() { var scribd = document.createElement(“script”); scribd.type = “text/javascript”; scribd.async = true; scribd.src = “http://www.scribd.com/javascripts/embed_code/inject.js”; var s = document.getElementsByTagName(“script”)[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(scribd, s); })();

Thankfully, they’d prefer I be pretty much voiceless. I’m just gathering materials, updating, editing, formatting, posting and any writing is as the commericialized “we” for the festival.

So, this will be my last post until after the 20th of July. Although, I may have a couple of tidbits for the T &T facebook page in between time.

Thanks for reading! Wish me luck!
