What’d Ya Think of This Flick? : INTO THE WOODS

    January 1, 2015 /

by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor   I had started an Into the Woods post two weeks ago, but never finished it and as much as I live for and revere the genre of the Movie Musical, now I’m kinda past doing a more in depth write up. However, once again Chris Evangelista at CutPrintFilm has written a very good review. I don’t agree with his criticism of Johnny Depp as the Big Bad Wolf, or the lukewarm praise for Meryl Streep; but he’s spot on when it comes to the Prince Charming duet between Chris Pine and Billy Magnussen, “Agony” scene/song is pure hilarious camp. It’s been too long since…

    Hairy Baby: BIG HERO 6

    November 9, 2014 /

Disney's latest offering Big Hero 6 is loosely based on a Japanese-style comic strip. It features Hiro (voice of Ryan Potter), a 13 year-old genius who's already eligible for college, but thinks that's a waste of time, when he's already making big bank entering robot battle competitions with a seemingly innocuous floppy looking bot, which completely destroys the competition.  Talk about a ringer!

A Taste of: ALEXANDER and the Terrible, Horrible, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY

    October 9, 2014 /

I was going to skip seeing Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, thinking I wasn’t in the mood for a tween type flick.  But after seeing the trailer several times, I had to admit the energy seemed crazy and fast paced, so I was curious to see if it lived up to the hype – it did, but not as I’d anticipated. The pacing is good (Directed by Miguel Arteta / Screenplay by Rob Lieber), but it’s not really a zany movie – even though, a series of No Good, Very Bad things do happen to the Cooper family, on one, incredibly long, very full day.…

I Wanted Flying Monkeys, Not Flying Baboons: OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL

    March 9, 2013 /

by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor There is no way anyone is going to be able to discuss Disney’s epic Oz the Great and Powerful without discussing their childhood memories of The Wizard of Oz, so why should I be any different. My older sister used to make us watch The Wizard of Oz every year, which always caused the two sides of my adolescent Gemini personality to be at war.  One part was drawn into the magic, fantasy, characters and adventure.  The other part of me enjoyed the music, but was terrified by the whole premise of Dorothy being lost somewhere weird and different. I hated that she wasn’t prepared…
