10 Things – SHANG-CHI and the Legend of the 10 Rings

    September 2, 2021 /

I enjoyed the Kaiju and "Fantastic Beast" aspects (except maybe the thing with no face, Morris, was pandering a little too hard to the younger demographic).  What Marvel does best is simmer down a large concept into the small and personal. Remove the criminal immortality of the Mandarin and the power of the 10 Rings, and basically the crux of the plot...

    Movie Blog Post: LOGAN

    March 6, 2017 /

Tinsel & Tine Focus: EVERYTHING GREAT ABOUT LOGAN BEST WOLVERINE MOVIE By Le Anne Lindsay, Editor After the early press screening of LOGAN, I once again joined some of The Black Tribbles in an episode of “SPOILED TRIBBLES” where for a change, everyone was in agreement, Logan, directed by James Mangold, works on every level and in terms of X-men movies, for me, comes in 3rd behind X-men: Days of Future Past and X-Men:First Class, don’t know why I never did a post on First Class, but here’s a link to my 2013 The Wolverine.  Listen to the Podcast below for our exuberant chatter after seeing “Logan”, but remember it’s…

Win a 3 Day Pass to STAR TREK: MISSION NEW YORK Labor Day Weekend 2016

    September 2, 2016 /

Post Update 9/8/2016  POST UPDATE 8/29/2016 Well, I have to say I’m both very disappointed and perhaps if truthful, a little relieved that only one person entered my “Be My Trekkie Guide” Contest . I say a little relieved because it was going to be an undertaking to coordinate with the winner, figure out accommodations, didn’t want to buy my bus ticket too early in case things didn’t work out, but I also didn’t want to be a$$ out without a tix for the holiday weekend if it did, and other logistics etc…  At any rate, the one entry was a woman. I was rather hoping this could be a…

Summer is not just a busy time for blockbuster releases, there's always a lot in general released in theaters - indies, horror and everything in between.  So here's a quick run down of stuff I screened in the last 2 months.

Podcast Movie Blog Post: GHOSTBUSTERS 2016

    July 16, 2016 /

I'm sorry to say it, but this new version isn't very good.  All the elements were there, good casting, Paul Feig director of Bridesmaids & Spy, fun CGI, but the beats, timing, laughs, are all a no go on this much anticipated vehicle, written by Katie Dippold & Paul Feig. It has its moments, and of course you're happy for each cameo; still, most of the humor lands like a wet noodle and it dawdles...
