Help Restore the Roxy! Supporting The Philadelphia Film Society
The Philadelphia Film Society, the organization which produces the annual Philadelphia Film Festival, will assume operations and reopen the Roxy Theater located in Philadelphia’s historic Rittenhouse Square neighborhood. It will operate as a first-run independent theater, providing festival-type films all year long. The Roxy is due for a facelift, as it has not undergone major building maintenance, upgrades to seating, wall treatments, or carpeting for countless years. Projection updates are also needed, to make the necessary transition from 35mm film projection to digital. In order to attract patrons, the Roxy needs to be welcoming, clean, and state-of-the-art. 21st Annual Philadelphia Film Festival Coverage (Part I)
