The Race Card: Black or White Movie

    February 1, 2015 /

by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor A Quick Look at Kevin Costner’s Black or White It was 4 years ago January that I remember writing a post saying that one of my New Year’s resolutions would be to see more movies with a predominately black cast, as these movies were rarely a part of the main stream press screenings. I don’t believe I actually stuck to my intention that year, but thankfully things started to change and we began to see studio driven movies hit the theaters like (click for T&T posts): Redtails, 42, The Butler, Best Man Holiday, Black Nativity, Think Like A Man 1 & Think Like A Man…

Have You Heard: BEYOND THE LIGHTS

    November 14, 2014 /

by Contributor Terri Heard I was listening to The Movie Man’s 6 Second Review for Beyond the Lights this morning on the Elvis Duran Show and I just knew he was going to give a curt dismissal ending in “I’m Out” –  But he was IN! He gave it a more than six second rave! Not that I need validation from The Movie Man to like or support a movie, but it did prove this movie has cross over appeal, not just with white and black audiences but, male and female. You know who else really liked the movie? Another new Tinsel & Tine Blog Contributor – Terri Heard.  I…

Candi’s Corner: Interview w/ Producers & Director of OCULUS

    April 17, 2014 /

On Mirrors, Movie Making, and Jem:  Interview With The Producers and Director/Writer of “Oculus” By Tinsel & Tine Blog Contributor Candace Cordelia Smith (Candi’s Corner) Call me weird, odd, or sick, but I love horror movies. The less gory, the better. I don’t know when this love first began, but you can count on me to watch “The Gate” if it’s ever on television and Lord knows that I’m waiting with bated breath for the next installment of American Horror Story. There’s just something invigorating, frightening, and psychologically remarkable about wanting to avoid all windows every night for a month after watching “The Strangers”. “Oculus”, out in theaters now, is…

Throwing Produce is a Foodie Moment: Kevin Hart interview – RIDE ALONG

    January 15, 2014 /

by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor This was my first opportunity to come face to face with Philly’s own Kevin Hart! It took place at the red carpet premiere of Ride Along, his new buddy/action/cop comedy co-starring Ice Cube. Ride Along is directed by Tim Story (Barber Shop, Think Like A Man) it’s about a security guard, Ben (Kevin Hart) who’s in love with a really cute sistah (Tika Sumpter) and sister to police detective James Payton (Ice Cube). Payton thinks his sister could do much, much better than Ben, even though Ben just got his acceptance letter to join the police academy.  This fact does give Payton the idea of…
