    A Revlock Review: AMY

    July 12, 2015 /

Kapaida’s documentary succeeds in simultaneously humanizing the artist and legitimizing her art. Early home videos reveal the singer’s passion, whimsicality, and wit, strengths that were already dissipating by the time Winehouse entered the public eye...

A Revlock Perspective: INSIDIOUS CHAPTER 3: Into the Further 4D Experience

    May 11, 2015 /

INSIDIOUS CHAPTER 3  Into the Further 4D Experience in Philly  By Tinsel & Tine Blog Contributor  – Mikhail Revlock   I didn’t know how to prepare for the Into the Further 4D Experience. The team at Allied warned it would be a mix of frights old-fashioned and newfangled, a fresh take on the haunted house model, a virtual preview of the third chapter of the Insidious saga…   On May 2nd, during the South Street Spring Festival, I find the Into the Further 4D Experience parked between South and Lombard. Comprised of two semi-trailers adorned with bold red and white lettering, it is impossible to miss. I employ my press…

A Revlock Review: BEYOND THE REACH

    April 17, 2015 /

It is difficult to go into a film simultaneously released in a handful of theaters and VOD with high expectations. Still I tried to watch "Beyond the Reach" with an open mind, and I was intermittently impressed by the cinematography...

A Revlock Review: RUN ALL NIGHT

    March 14, 2015 /

Liam Neeson’s Latest Thriller By Tinsel & Tine Blog Contributor Mikhail Revlock I’m probably the wrong person to be reviewing the latest Liam Neeson actioner, having observed Neeson’s ascent to action stardom at a distance and with some skepticism. To me, Neeson will always be Oskar Schindler or some prestigious variant, a habitual player in period pieces lauded by critics and reluctantly consumed by audiences, the cinematic equivalent of the Brussels sprout. I find it surreal when I spy flashes of Schindler on TV toting automatic weapons and growling murderous threats. I am not by any means an action movie snob–I have seen the vast majority of Sylvester Stallone’s…

Mikhail & Le Anne Talk: JUPITER ASCENDING

    February 7, 2015 /

Dual Review on Andy & Lana Wachowski’s  JUPITER ASCENDING  By Tinsel & Tine Blog Contributor Mikhail Revlock & Editor Le Anne Lindsay Tinsel & Tine Readers, It’s Mikhail kicking off my joint review of Jupiter Ascending with Le Anne. We caught a preview screening of the Wachowski’s latest offering at the Rave in University City, and I think it’s fair to say we were both underwhelmed by this space opera thing. As this unclassifiable epic crawled to a dismal “have your cake and eat it” finish, I was reminded time and again of “Matrix” sequels and “Star Wars” prequels: dull blockbusters bursting at the seams with elaborate set pieces and…
