FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM
by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor A WORLD DIVIDED The Hamilton cast vs Trump/Pence controversy is interesting, isn’t it? I’m in total agreement with the Broadway Musical, both in that they felt it was within their “brand” so to speak, to address Vice President elect Pence on the issues of multi-culturalism, which could be at stake during the upcoming Administration; and that they waited until after the show had completely ended, including curtain calls, to make the statement, showing concern for the proper handling of such an unprecedented act. Later, I started gathering my research for this Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them post and was struck by the similarities…

Magic in the Wrong Hands: WINTER’S TALE
If there are two things I love more than film and food, it’s magic and romance. There is a part of me that truly believes when I finally take the time to commit to it, I have a book inside me to rival the stories of King Arthur and Camelot, Star Wars, Romeo and Juliet, Gone with the Wind, and Harry Potter. Television had Buffy, Dana Scully, and Khaleesi, but where on film was the next Ellen Ripley for young girls to model themselves after? The answer to Bella Swan’s swooning, was Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence). Katniss, without superpowers, used her common sense and intelligence to best her competition under a totalitarian government. The second installment of The Hunger Games movie trilogy, Catching Fire, won’t be out until November,…

Clary and Jace in Philly – The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones Interviews
I got a chance to meet the two leads and the author from the upcoming movie The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones – Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower and Cassandra Clare. This is the latest in young adult fantasy fiction to capture the imaginations of those who long for a world of magic, monsters and mortal danger. In 2007 author Cassandra Clare introduced young adult readers to the reluctant warrior, Clary Fray (Collins), in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, the first entry in what would become a fantasy-adventure empire. In Clare’s carefully constructed magical world, a young woman finds herself surrounded by warlocks, vampires, werewolves, demons—and the mysterious Shadowhunters,…
