A Taste of: ALEXANDER and the Terrible, Horrible, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY

    October 9, 2014 /

I was going to skip seeing Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, thinking I wasn’t in the mood for a tween type flick.  But after seeing the trailer several times, I had to admit the energy seemed crazy and fast paced, so I was curious to see if it lived up to the hype – it did, but not as I’d anticipated. The pacing is good (Directed by Miguel Arteta / Screenplay by Rob Lieber), but it’s not really a zany movie – even though, a series of No Good, Very Bad things do happen to the Cooper family, on one, incredibly long, very full day.…

Magic in the Wrong Hands: WINTER’S TALE

    February 14, 2014 /

If there are two things I love more than film and food, it’s magic and romance. There is a part of me that truly believes when I finally take the time to commit to it, I have a book inside me to rival the stories of King Arthur and Camelot, Star Wars, Romeo and Juliet, Gone with the Wind, and Harry Potter.  A story with the perfect blend of symbolic spirituality and philosophical universalism, a story that brings alive the most alluring star crossed lovers who find each other throughout time and space.  A messages that touches the most cynical of hearts and is just damn good fun to…

More Icing than Cake: THE BIG WEDDING

    April 27, 2013 /

Susan Sarandon age 66, caught in the act with her panties down, makes being on the other side of the hill, sexy! And in terms of style, energy and love of life, same goes for Diane Keaton and Robert DeNiro. I’m sure it comes as no surprise, that these three are the reason to see writer/director Justin Zackham (screen writer of The Bucket List) new movie The Big Wedding. Screen Picks: You seem to have a fascination with people who are experiencing a vital  second or third act in life. What is it about this subject matter that attracts you? Justine Zackham: “I feel like thaere aren’t a lot of…

5 BEST FOODIE FILMS FOR VALENTINE’S DAY

    February 14, 2013 /

I had planned for my Valentine’s Day post to be a write up on the new Nicholas Sparks movie Safe Haven, but I had a major break with my best friend of 23 years (see facebook post) and never made it to the screening.   The movie looks super schmaltzy anyway. Poor Julianne Hough, she was so adorable and animated on DWTS, I would like to see her make it as an actress, but she’s only been in totally awful movies – Burlesque, Footloose, Rock of Ages, and from the trailers of this movie, I’m not sure about the chemistry between she and Josh Duhamel. Anyway, I’m happy to present a…
