    A Revlock Review: SICARIO

    October 2, 2015 /

Director Denis Villenueve’s American Crime Thriller By Tinsel & Tine Blog Contributor, Mikhail Revlock In the opening minutes of SICARIO, a team of FBI agents plow their armored truck through the front wall of a suburban home, find a legion of plastic-covered corpses behind the drywall, and trigger a massive explosion. Though none of the subsequent set pieces pack as big a punch as the introduction, the ensuing film is a masterwork in sustained tension. This will come as no surprise to followers of Canadian director Denis Villenueve, who rose to international distinction on the strength of Incendies—scoring a nomination for Best Foreign Film at the 2010 Academy Awards—and proceeded…

    AMERICAN ULTRA

    August 21, 2015 /

If I Were A Sleeper Agent AMERICAN ULTRA By Tinsel & Tine Editor, Le Anne Lindsay If I were a sleeper agent, God forbid they station me in some podunk town working in a mini-mart, until I’m possibly activated. I’d need to be enjoying a glam existence of chic couture, world travel, good food and a semi-high profile cover, like a celebrated artist or clothing designer. When activated, kicking ass as a killing machine, would never do, I’d like to become a master manipulator, gaining access to people in places of power and bending their will to mine. In AMERICAN ULTRA, Mike Howell (Jesse Eisenberg) has no such luck, he’s…

A Revlock Review: BEYOND THE REACH

    April 17, 2015 /

It is difficult to go into a film simultaneously released in a handful of theaters and VOD with high expectations. Still I tried to watch "Beyond the Reach" with an open mind, and I was intermittently impressed by the cinematography...

    March 25, 2015 /

CANDI’S CORNER IS BACK! One of our regular blog contributors, Candace Smith moved to the Big Apple almost a year ago and has been doing her thing – writing, acting, journalism. However, I’m always happy to have her back at T&T when she’s got the time, and she made the time for the second installment of the Divergent Series: INSURGENT.   Check out Candi’s review below and below that – my interview with Max from Divergent and Insurgent, none other than actor Mekhi Phifer! – Le Anne Lindsay, Editor Insurgent Review By Tinsel & Tine Blog Contributor Candace Cordelia Smith (Candi’s Corner) At the start of Insurgent, my immediate thought was,…

Here’s What They’re Saying About: THE HUNGER GAMES MOCKINGJAY PART 1

    November 23, 2014 /

For me, The Hunger Games is an alright movie franchise, it probably would hold even less appeal for me if I didn’t like Jennifer Lawrence so much – she’s got a quality that’s part girl from the wrong side of the tracks, without cheap skin or hair; she seems sensible and mature, and at the same time, fun and fresh; she’s got edge without the apathy of a Kristen Stewart.  In other words, she has the presence to carry off a movie that’s mostly production and atmosphere.  I mean, I get the creativity behind Suzanne Collins’ Dystopian world, brought to life by directors Gary Ross and then Francis Lawrence. And…
