20th Philadelphia Film Festival – The Descendants
The Closing night film, featured George Clooney in The Descendants. Basically, it’s hard not to like this film set in Hawaii, although, I don’t feel it’s as good as writer/director Alexander Payne’s film Sideways. Still, I was very impressed with the balancing act of threading laugh out loud humor into really tough situations. The timing of which, is nothing short of brilliant. 20th Philadelphia Film Festival – Day 1 – 4 Picks
I picked up my press pass for the 20th Anniversary Philadelphia Film Festival tonight! Just to get you in the festival mood, here’s the films I plan to see the first few days (Thursday, October 20th thru Sunday October 23rd). Of course, the festival runs till November 3rd, and I plan to be present throughout most of it; however, during the festival, I’ll be posting on facebook and twitter each day what film(s) I plan to see. Philly Film Hightlight – The Tolltaker
The film, set in the early 1970's, was shot in locations in and around Philadelphia. It combines live action and animation to tell the story of a young boy (Bobby) in Northeast Philadelphia whose father is MIA in Vietnam, and who is hounded by an evil, subterranean demon intent on stealing away the one thing the boy believes will bring his father home...
