FOCUS FEATURES AND WILL PACKER PRODUCTIONS DEVELOPING NOVEL “WHEN I WAS YOU” FOR THE SCREEN
Focus Features announced it will develop “When I Was You” with Will Packer Productions. The project is based on the upcoming book from suspense novelist Amber Garza, described as a female-driven thriller. Garza’s past works include “The Girl Frozen in Time,” “The Last Time I Saw Her,” and the “Prowl” trilogy. Will Packer and James Lopez will produce under the Will Packer Productions banner. DOLEMITE IS MY NAME
I wanted to give more time to this review with it being Eddie Murphy, in a role that suits him perfectly – but once again, I’ve had zero time to write, between work and seeing 4 movies this week. Going in, I thought Dolemite Is My Name (Directed by Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow) was going to parody a fictional Blaxploitation film with a fictional Eddie Murphy character; but when I realized it’s based on actual events and the real brother who embodied Dolemite, it brings another level of enjoyment to the film! The film takes place in 1950’s London and is about a very fussy fashion designer named Reynolds Woodcock, played by Daniel Day-Lewis, (who claims this is his final movie role, we’ll see about that).
