19th Annual Philadelphia Film Festival Coverage 2010 #PFF19
So I’m going to start from last night’s Stewart Bradley fundraiser at the Sumo Lounge at RAW and work my way backward to Saturday, with quick commentary, so that I can catch up with all my recent activity at the festival. This fan pictured with Bradley is not indicative of the crowd, which was mostly very young. Which is super to see a younger set supporting PFS. But I’m starting to feel very old, I really don’t enjoy club scenes at all anymore. I just wanted to survey the layout, get a nibble or two and get out. The eats were butlered: dumplings and bite size sushi rolls, including my…

19th Annual Philadelphia Film Festival Coverage – BLUE VALENTINE
#PFF18 Continues with BLUE VALENTINE Q&A After the screening of Blue Valentine on Friday night, Producer Jamie Patricof gave us a little background on how long it has taken to get this film to the screen. He’s been on board for 9 of the 12 years Derek Cianfance (Brother Tide) was in the midst of both writing and directing this wonderfully heart-wrenching depiction of a couple learning each other, needing each other, and then needing different things. Lebanon, PA (19th Philly Film Fest)
Seeing Philadelphia as a backdrop in film should no longer be novel, after all Philly has become a real movie town! Still there’s always a sense of fun surrealism when seeing the streets you walk along everyday up on the big screen; so I wanted to see the movie Lebanon, PA for that reason, as I knew the opening scenes took place around Rittenhouse Square. I also wanted to see it because I like relationship films. Will (Josh Hopkins) a man who’s never kept in touch with his extended family, only 2 hours away, now finds himself being a part of his young, pregnant cousin’s life. To read complete commentary,…

Making Film in Philly Panel (19th Philly Film Fest)
I made it to The Philadelphia Film Festival “Making Film in Philly” Panel Discussion (Four Points by Sheraton), in time to enjoy coffee and TastyKakes. The panel was amazing! Bob Lowerly & Andy Williams– Dive Shooter (Visual effects and Post Production), Justin Weinberg, Entertainment Lawyer, Thomas Ashley, President of Philadelphia Soundstage, Wendy Cox Hollywood Production Manager, Sharon Pinkenson, Executive Director of Greater Philadelphia Film Office. These individuals really love the film industry and had A LOT of stories to share about working with actors, how they got into the industry, the hard work and stick-to-it-ness necessary to break into the industry and why they love being a part of making…

19th Annual Philadelphia Film Festival – BLACK SWAN Darren Aronofsky Q & A
Q: Was the film Perfect Blue an inspiration for this film? A: Not really, there are similarities between the films, but it wasn’t influenced by it. It really came out of Swan Lake the Ballet, we wanted to dramatize the ballet, that’s why it’s kind of up here and down there, because ballet is big and small in lots of ways.
