Philly Spotlight: Entrepreneur Works – TASTE OF SUCCESS
15th Annual TASTE OF SUCCESS: A Cook-off/Bake-off Event Supporting the Philadelphia Region’s Local Entrepreneurs By Le Anne Lindsay, Tinsel & Tine Editor I’ve been aware of Entrepreneur Works for some time, so it’s odd that this was the first year knowing about and attending their Cook-off/Bake-off contest called “Taste of Success”, which is in its 15th year. 12 food entrepreneurs got the chance to enter a winning appetizer or dessert in a competition for cash prizes. The contestants were judged by two top local chefs: Chef /Owner Joncarl Lachman of NOORD and Chef/Owner Lee Styer of FOND. For the fifth consecutive year, Taste of Success was hosted by Jim Donovan,…

Goose Island Beer Migration Week in Philly RECAP
My latest blogging invitation came from Chicago based Goose Island Beer, a craft beer company started by John Hall, 25 years ago, upon his return from traveling throughout Europe. Goose Island Beer is currently on a Migration tour to visit beer loving cities in the US and one of the first stops of course, was Philly! Every year the IHouse Board chooses a country to celebrate with a series of events. This year in honor of The 2014 FIFA World Cup they chose Brazil. You may recall Tinsel & Tine’s win an IHouse membership contest held in May was part of the Colors of Brazil Gala, previous to that was a Carnivàle and other assorted happenings, the…

The Bicycle Chef’s Collingswood Food Swap with Spirit
My friend Denine (aka The Bicycle Chef) started a Food Swap in Collingswood, New Jersey, that’s gaining great momentum. For anyone unfamiliar with a Food Swap it’s for all those foodies out there that are more than just good in the kitchen; in addition, they like to pickle things and make large batches of stuff, it’s for those that like to vacuum seal a glass jar and do some old-fashioned canning. And for those that specialize in sauces and spreads. And most of all, find adorable and handy ways of displaying and presenting such delectables. None of this is me, far too much effort involved. However, Denine invited me to…
