[ Also see “The Duff” Mini Review below] “Empire continues to do the seemingly impossible. Fox’s hip-hop drama rose yet again in the ratings Wednesday night. The show had 11.9 million viewers and 4.7 rating among adults 18-49. That’s just a tenth of a point higher than last week’s record, but still—it’s yet another gain. The show had already broken a 23-year-old broadcast ratings record last week by growing its viewership its first five weeks in a row.“ READ MORE EW.com This is awesome! Both Terrence…

Have You Heard: BEYOND THE LIGHTS

    November 14, 2014 /

by Contributor Terri Heard I was listening to The Movie Man’s 6 Second Review for Beyond the Lights this morning on the Elvis Duran Show and I just knew he was going to give a curt dismissal ending in “I’m Out” –  But he was IN! He gave it a more than six second rave! Not that I need validation from The Movie Man to like or support a movie, but it did prove this movie has cross over appeal, not just with white and black audiences but, male and female. You know who else really liked the movie? Another new Tinsel & Tine Blog Contributor – Terri Heard.  I…

How Much is That Doggy in the Trash Can? – THE DROP

    September 12, 2014 /

by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor I became a Tom Hardy fan from his role in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (click for T&T post), which wasn’t a big role for him, but there was a sexy indolence about the way he played that character that caught my notice.  My sister fell for him in This Means War, (click for T&T post) not the best spy rom/com, but I agree he’s rather adorably charming in that flick.  I still have to catch up on Locke, (click for T&T blog contrib post). Lawless (click for T&T post) remains one of Tinsel & Tine’s most read posts, where Hardy plays the un-kill-able bootlegger, Forrest Bondurant. Bottom line, if you need an actor…

Blog Contributor Monique: LOCKE (Tom Hardy

    May 9, 2014 /

by Monique Steans I was really glad to get the assignment to see LOCKE, as it had been on my Indie film radar for sometime. TOM HARDY’S character Ivan Locke, centers around an emotionally tortured man who on the outside seems calmbut on the inside is falling apart at the seams. The film was shot entirely in a car, in London with a singular character, Locke, interacting on the phone with those in his life, it’s an interesting journey. I couldn’t help but feel an emotional connection to everything his character went through – from getting fired, to cheating on his wife, resulting in another woman having his baby; and…
