Empire continues to do the seemingly impossible. Fox’s hip-hop drama rose yet again in the ratings Wednesday night. The show had 11.9 million viewers and 4.7 rating among adults 18-49. That’s just a tenth of a point higher than last week’s record, but still—it’s yet another gain. The show had already broken a 23-year-old broadcast ratings record last week by growing its viewership its first five weeks in a row. READ MORE EW.com

This is awesome! Both Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson have
paid their dues in Hollywood, but they were still not quite considered
“A-Listers” by the general public. So it’s very gratifying to see them
truly become household names with #Empire.

But what is going to happen with Lucious, cause his ALS is progressing fast!  Of course partly due to the quack that injected him with God knows what experimental drugs which turned out to be worse than the illness. You know Lucious paid that doctor big bank and all he got in return was liver damage.

Dre didn’t take the news of his father’s impending death too well.  Below Gif shows his crazy coming to the surface.

Now Camilla (Naomi Campbell) feels dissed by Hakeem cause their relationship is on the down low. I thought that’s how she wanted it. Does she really want to be squired around by a teenager in public? Yeah, he’s blowin up, but not really growing up. The bedroom and the bathtub is where that relationship needs to stay.

“At the table read– I like to ad-lib a lot– I said ‘You want to throw your cell phone at me? Lee (Daniels) said ‘keep it.’ But we didn’t. The great thing about her is she is amazing. She is a beautiful person. I don’t even know how that whole cell phone thing happened. She is amazing on the set. We love her,” said Henson. READ MORE Taraji P. Jamal lost a lover, but gained more scarves and a daughter.  Sad about Michael, but he was right to leave. Jamal’s obviously not ready to live his life totally out, and his music does come first, but since that’s the case, there was no reason for him to assert his independence from Lucious.

Cookie was in full on mama mode getting Jamal & Hakeem to bury the hatchet long enough to perform at the investors showcase. Anika, aka Boo Boo Kitty, tried to throw Cookie off her game by drugging Elle Dallas (C. Love) before her performance. Which means Anika would rather sabotage Empire, which betrays Lucious, in order to make Cookie look bad.  But when Lucious couldn’t make the speech to the investors, he didn’t turn to Anika, Andre or Vernon, he knew the Cookie monster could deliver and boy did she ever. The money people were so revved up by her raw honesty they looked like they wanted to make it rain right then and there.

Best of all… thought we’d have to wait for the season finale to get a Lucious & Cookie kiss, but Whoa! Yes! So much more!

While You’re Here – The Duff Review

Teen angst flick THE DUFF (dir. Ari Sandel) opened in theaters 2.20.15 and basically high school hasn’t changed, it’s just on steroids due to cellphones, social media and cyber bullying. Actually, The Duff is an enjoyable effort, but the only thing that stands out is the lead Mae Whitman who has an impressive resume for someone most of us have never heard of before. The Duff could be for Whitman what Easy A was for Emma Stone.  For those of you who have not been watching ABC Family channel as much as I have and haven’t been constantly bombarded with the trailer – (I swear I went to see the movie, just to hear her do the full monster voice) Duff stands for Designated Ugly Fat Friend, a horrendous moniker to assign to a girl or guy just cause they’re not as hot as the friends they hang out with… I’m gonna hand you over to Seth Paul of CinemaNerdz for the rest of the review!
