QFEST Opening Film: G.B.F.
Last night QFEST (LGBT Film Festival in Philadelphia) opened with G.B.F. an acronym for Gay Best Friend. This movie could quite possibly be the Clueless for this generation and Sasha Pieterse (Pretty Little Liars) today’s Alicia Silverstone. G.B.F. (which premiered at TriBeCa 2013) is set in a high school where no kid has yet to come out. However, there is a gender equality organization looking for someone to defend. There’s also 3 major school cliques – one run by a perfect blonde “mean girl” bombshell, Fawcett (Sasha Pieterse); a fierce, black, drama queen, Caprice (Xosha Roquemore); and a “purity” Mormon, Shley (Andrea Bowen). All three of these girls know the…

LAB Makes Good: KEVIN HART: LET ME EXPLAIN
One of the things comedian Kevin Hart wants to get straight in his new stand up film Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain, is that he’s no LAB (Local-Ass-Bitch). And he goes about proving it with footage from sold out concerts in London, Canada, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Amsterdam. My brother introduced me to this comedic diminutive, dynamo back in 06, with his first special “I’m a Grown Little Man” we watched that…

Below is a segment I like to call – I couldn’t have said it better myself, where I find sources from the web that echo my sentiments on the movie. But first… Denbo & Chaffin at Dave & Busters Philadelphia Jessica Chaffin and Jamie Denbo, are best known for their “Ronna…

Grazing: THIS IS THE END
I experienced apocalyptic themes twice this week, first with Seth Rogan’s hilarious – what would it be like to experience the end of the world with all my famous friends movie This Is the End, and the next night, with the new gorgeous superMan of Steel, fighting his own race to save ours. My perfect last days scenario would be a combination of both movies – to hole up in a Hollywood mansion with Henry Cavill and hope not to ascend to heaven before he can bring me there himself – in any way he wants to! But lets get back to This Is the End. I can’t begin to…

Moby Dick Day – PEEPLES
There's a lot that sounds funny in this movie about a wealthy African American family "The Black Kennedy's" who, lead by patriarch Virgil Peeples (David Alan Grier), look perfect from the outside until the arrival of an unexpected guest, Grace's boyfriend Wade (Craig Robinson) unintentionally begins to unravel family skeletons left and right...
