Podcast Movie Blog Post: GHOSTBUSTERS 2016

    July 16, 2016 /

I'm sorry to say it, but this new version isn't very good.  All the elements were there, good casting, Paul Feig director of Bridesmaids & Spy, fun CGI, but the beats, timing, laughs, are all a no go on this much anticipated vehicle, written by Katie Dippold & Paul Feig. It has its moments, and of course you're happy for each cameo; still, most of the humor lands like a wet noodle and it dawdles...

Movie Blog Post: BFFs starring Tara Karsian & Andrea Grano

    June 18, 2016 /

by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor Indie Film Spotlight: BFFs by Writers, Producers, Co-Stars Tara Karsian and Andrea Grano Looking for a few days of vacation and amusement, two best friends pretend to be lovers while attending a couple’s weekend workshop. I received a screener for this film, BFFs,which premiered at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.  Kat (Tara Karsian) is having one of those weeks where you break up with your long term boyfriend right before your birthday and your mother’s gift to you is a weekend couples retreat. Kat’s best friend Samantha (Andrea Grano) with easy familiarity appropriates most of Kat’s birthday gifts for herself, including trying to figure out…

KEANU: Interview with Jordan Peele & Method Man

    April 30, 2016 /

Peele says it was a challenge he and Key were ready for. “The difference of course at this point,” he says, “is you have to sustain a story. So you can’t just sell out the comedy and expect to be able to go back and have people care (about) what you’re doing. You have to ground it. You have to give it heart. And so ‘Keanu’ takes us through on this journey.”

Connor’s Corner: HOW TO BE SINGLE

    February 12, 2016 /

IT’S MUCH BETTER THAN YOU’D THINK  HOW TO BE SINGLE By Tinsel & Tine Contributor Connor Bartholomew When I saw the first trailer for Christian Ditter’s How to Be Single I was skeptical. As someone who is single in her twenties, I’ve pretty much heard it all: the You Just Haven’t Met The Right Persons, the pitying glances, the acknowledging nods, the I’m Sure You’ll Meet Someone Soons, the Can I Make You An Online Dating Accounts. The trailer did nothing to assuage my theory that here was another chick flick geared towards reinforcing two stereotypes: (Romantic) Love Is All You Need, and Single Means You Party Or You Cry.…

The Pink Cake Looked Delicious: BIG STONE GAP

    October 21, 2015 /

You just can’t convince me, no matter how small and country a town might be, that anyone who looks and acts like Ashley Judd would ever wind up a spinster. She’s the epitome of the super cute girl next door that most men immediately marry, and so is her character Ave Maria in Writer/Director Adriana Trigiani’s Appalachian Mountain folksy tale BIG STONE GAP. I knew Big Stone Gap was a comedy, but I thought in terms of getting attached to a small town and its inhabitants, the movie might have in it a little Steel Magnolia, Come Back to the 5 & Dime Jimmy Dean or even that little…
