    SONG TO SONG

    March 24, 2017 /

I enjoy movies set inside the music scene like: Almost Famous, Crazy Heart, Walk the Line, Inside Llewyn Davis, La La Land, even The Runaways, with Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart playing Cherie Currie and Joan Jett, it's pretty bad, but still has something to recommend it. These movies depict some aspect or time period of the music industry.

Movie Blog Post: THE NEON DEMON

    June 26, 2016 /

QUICK LOOK AT NICOLAS WINDING REFN’S THE NEON DEMON  By Tinsel & Tine Editor, Le Anne Lindsay Not quite sure what to make of filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn’s latest picture The Neon Demon. I imagined it would be a bit campy, in a good juicy way, but I didn’t expect it to get so dark, nightmarish and sick.  Although, actually, I can take watching necrophilia and cannibalism, what I can’t take is slothful, long drawn out scenes created for an effect that for me it didn’t achieve. Jesse (Elle Fanning) is a fresh faced 16 year-old girl new to LA. When asked, she just says her parents are not around, but…

    KNIGHT OF CUPS

    March 15, 2016 /

Not My Cuppa… By Le Anne Lindsay, Editor Knight of Cups follows writer Rick (Christian Bale, The Fighter, American Hustle) on an odyssey through the playgrounds of Los Angeles and Las Vegas as he undertakes a search for love and self. Even as he moves through a desire-laden landscape of mansions, resorts, beaches and clubs, Rick grapples over complicated relationships with his brother (Wes Bentley) and father (Brian Dennehy). His quest to break the spell of his disenchantment takes him on a series of adventures with six alluring women… – Broad Green Pictures Some reviews say the main character, Rick’s (Bale) profession in the movie is an actor, others say…

An Unlikely Pairing for: A WALK IN THE WOODS

    September 4, 2015 /

I’ve never understood the need to be challenged. Particularly when it comes to challenging yourself physically. That old saying about anything worth having is worth doing, or some such nonsense, holds no water for me.  I like things easy. I enjoy not just creature comforts, but any comforts. I try never to be too hot, God forbid I be too cold. I need to be in surroundings with lots of natural light on a daily basis, yet protected from too much sun and bugs. I could go on, but you get the picture. So you can imagine the idea of walking the Appalachian Trail (2,185 miles) for 4 months sounds…
