QFEST Opens July 8th
I can’t believe it’s been a year since my internship at Philadelphia Cinema Alliance (click for complete schedule of upcoming films); where I got introduced to a plethora of Gay and Lesbian Cinema. I truly enjoyed last year’s programming and had a great time throughout the festival! This year, I have some conflicts with the first week of QFest 2010, but I do hope to see and write about a number of the films offered for the second week of the festival. Click HERE for a listing of the upcoming lesbian films slated. They’re even opening the festival with a lesbian oriented film – Elena Undone. I hope the main…

Le Bec Fin Celebrates 40th Anniversary
I do try to read blogs, feeds, tweets etc… about food and film happenings in Philly, but something inevitably gets by me, so it was a stroke of luck that I happened upon the sidewalk celebration taking place at Le Bec Fin (1523 Walnut Street). Chef George Perrier and his entire staff were joyously celebrating the landmark restaurant’s 40th Anniversary. IDEA Film Fundraiser -“The Evils”
Early in May I interviewed an up and coming actor, Lloyed E. Booker, click for post of interview & film review and gave a plug for the June 17th premiere of a film he’s in called The Evils (Director Hakim Hudson). The premiere doubled as a fundraiser for a non-profit organization called IDEA Performing Arts Center, which benefits at risk kids in Camden by channeling their energy into multi-media production, filmmaking, visual arts , music and dance. (pictured lft to rt: Funder, Booker, Primas below lft to rt actors: Skye Dennis & Brian Anthony Wilson) Contrary to my post at the time, I was able to attend this event after…

Commentary – Jonah Hex
PFS held a preview of Jonah Hex on Wednesday, June 16th. For those of you as in the dark as I was, Jonah Hex is a Sci-Fi, Western DC comic book character. I don’t believe Josh Brolin who plays the lead character will be as immortalized as Jonah Hex as Robert Downey Jr is as Iron Man, but then again, everyone knows my lust and love for the latter makes me biased. Read Tinsel & Tine Jonah Hex film commentary on the Philadelphia Film Society website.
