Belly Laughs: THE HEAT (Interview: Jessica Chaffin & Jamie Denbo)

    June 28, 2013 /

by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor Is it getting easier to make me laugh or are writers getting funnier? I laughed like a fool at This is The End (click for T&T post) and like an idiot at the female cop (Melissa McCarthy) vs female FBI agent (Sandra Bullock) / female cop partnered with FBI agent comedy – The Heat. If you make a film about aliens, the existence of God, origins of man, ancient myths, prophecies, hieroglyphics, space travel, throw in a lot of goo, birthing alien babies and an unnerving robot - then I'm most likely gonna love it...

    Commentary – THIS MEANS WAR

    February 18, 2012 /

My screening of This Means War was courtesy of and reviewed for Cinedelphia Take a little True Lies, mix in a dash of Mr. & Mrs Smith, add a touch of Ocean’s Eleven and then half-bake and you’ve got a mildly entertaining, McG romantic, spy comedy. This Means War stars Reese Witherspoon as the lucky lady being courted by two super cute spies. Of course Reese’s character, Lauren thinks she’s just dating two super cute guys.  Lauren is an executive at a consumer products research firm, who lately has had a run of bad luck or no luck in the romance department.  Her older, married friend, Trish (Chelsea Handler) decides…

    Australia

    December 28, 2008 /

I wanted the movie “Australia” to do well in the box office for two reasons: I love big, sweeping, epic love stories and Baz Lurhman is really adorably sexy! However, it doesn’t appear as if his 100 million dollar dream come true is box office gold. There’s been very little buzz during or since Thanksgiving. I saw it in a nearly empty theater, normally at Christmastime all movie showings are relatively full. It’s been more than 10 years since “Titanic”, I would think audiences would be hungry for a film of this romantic scope and feel. Especially in light of the economy, shouldn’t people want to escape into a cinematic…
