Simply Marvel-ous: The 4 Comicbook Movies You Don’t Want to Miss

I’m psyched to see “The Wolverine”  and the first “Thor” wasn’t bad, so I’m looking forward to that too. Chris Hemsworth was my choice for sexiest superhero until the new Superman “Man of Steel”
Henry Cavill came bursting onto the screen last night!  Now he’s got my vote. I’ve always preferred dark haired guys anyway, but when Hemsworth came on the scene, he toppled Robert Downey, Jr who is now #3. Hugh Jackman lost a tinge of sexiness for me after doing Broadway, it’s been a while since he was my #1, alas Wolverine has now fallen to 4th place. With Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk) taking up the rear as 5th sexiest superhero.  And I know, it’s a faux pas to mix DC Comic characters with Marvel characters, but I did it anyway 🙂

Time for a little content interlude!  This one by Charlie Singer.

Going to one of the Disney theme parks in the near future might mean that you’ll get to see more attractions that the younger male audience can relate to. As most have already noticed, our favorite comic book characters are coming back to life on the big screen, thanks to the most recent Marvel and Disney partnership. You prep the kids and catch up on the previous installments of these comic book movies at the convenience of your own home through GetDirectTV.org, and then visit your local theater with the family to enjoy some of these up and coming comic book films that are guaranteed to be some of the hottest features when they hit the big screen:

‘Iron Man 3’

Robert Downey Jr. returned as Tony Stark for a fourth time, and this time Stark is struggling to cope with his near-death experience in “The Avengers.” Stark has become obsessed with building a better Iron Man suit, and he is forced into action to battle the Mandarin, the leader of an international terrorist organization. The Mandarin goes after Stark by destroying his home and kidnapping his girlfriend, Pepper Potts.
“Iron Man 3” opened on May 3 and has already grossed more than $768.2 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo. While the movie has been out for a couple of months, it’s definitely a must see.

‘The Wolverine’

Hugh Jackman returns to the character that made him famous when “The Wolverine” hits U.S. theaters on July 26. This movie picks up where “X-Men: The Last Stand” left off, and centers on Wolverine in Japan. His immortality is taken from him and Wolverine must battle a new foe, the Silver Samurai, while dealing with physical vulnerabilities for the first time.
Trailers for “The Wolverine” are generating a lot of positive buzz, and MTV News praised the action scenes involving the Silver Samurai in the latest trailer, declaring that he steals every scene where he appears onscreen.

‘Thor: The Dark World’

Set for a November release, “Thor: The Dark World” is the sequel to the 2011 Marvel hit “Thor.”  Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman are back as the title character and his love interest, astrophysicist Jane Foster. This time, Jane’s been targeted by the denizens of the dark world of Svartalfheim, and Thor sets out to protect her at all costs. IGN.com reports that this installment is looking “a lot bigger” than the first movie.

‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’

Set for April 2014 release date, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is the sequel to Marvel’s 2011 “Captain America: The First Avenger.” The movie picks up where last year’s “The Avengers” left off, with Steve Rogers (played by Chris Evans) trying to find his way in a modern world. He’ll team up with Natasha Romanoff (played by Scarlett Johansson)—aka Black Widow—to battle evil in the nation’s capital. Look for Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce, a senior leader with S.H.I.E.L.D., Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier.

So what does this all mean for the young boys that feel like they’re surrounded by Disney princess characters when they visit one of the Disney theme parks? Well can you imagine the hype Disney fans will get when they see Iron Man in his red and gold lit-up suit or Thor with his cape and huge hammer walking around in costume? Disney’s hottest characters aren’t all about princesses and with Marvel potentially becoming a new attraction for Disney, younger boys (and girls) can now go home with smiles from ear to ear and say they met their favorite action-superhero and have the memories to prove it.
