LA CINEMATHEQUE: New French Film Series

Philadelphia Cinema Alliance (Cinefest & QFest) in conjunction with The Prince Music Theater and The Embassy of France will present a New French Film Series (all English Subtitles) entitled La Cinematheque.

The screenings will take place once a month this fall, starting on September 30th at the Prince Music Theater (1412 Chestnut Street) showtimes 6:45pm.

Best of all, it’s a Film and Food pairing!

Prior to the opening night screening (5-6:30pm), will be a French wine tastings with various vineyards from World Shippers and Importers featuring such labels as Mas Planeres Red, Mont Redon Rose and Chateau Planeres Prestige Redat, at the theater. The wines will be expertly paired with cuisine from Brittany prepared by DuJour Catering.

All four film choices seem to be light and entertaining fare, nothing avant-garde. Smart decision when finding a new audience:

Sept 30French Kissers (Les Beaux Gosses), directed by Riad Sattouf; a hilarious adolescent’s romp that is both sexy and a little naughty.

Oct 22 – Eden Is West, directed by Costa Garvas, from funny to heartrending journey of a man from unknown roots to an unstable future.

Nov 12 –OSS 117: Lost in Rio (OSS 117: Rio ne répond plus), directed by Michel Hazanavicius, a spot-on comic recreation of a 1960’s French spy series starring comedian Jean Dujardin.

Dec 10 The First Day of the Rest of Your Life (Le premier jour du reste de ta vie) directed by Rémi Bezançon, a zany tale about one families’ life experiences about five days in a 12-year cycle.
