Empire Talk Week 5: Dangerous Bonds (FoxTV)

Viewers were going crazy tweeting about the end of this week’s episode. Cookie’s $5000 hasty “purchase” is going to have big consequences!

1. One of the great things about this show, the format and music element makes it easy to have a slew of cameo appearances without it seeming overdone. This week Anthony Hamilton serenaded Anika while Lucious proposed marriage (Did you see that ROCK!?).  Only thing is, the proposal looks to be yet another strategic Lucious Lyons move as he needs a written clean bill of health to give to the insurance company, before Empire can go public, it just so happens Anika’s father is a prominent physician.

2. We found out why last week Tianna wasn’t that upset to find her boyfriend Hakeem in the bathtub with Camilla, it seems Tianna has a piece on the side too, a cute little blonde CHICK!

3. Jamal having to adjust to no longer having Lyons bank behind him, had to rent a super ghetto studio decorated with bullet holes to record his new song.  Cookie has to leave and threatens the studio engineer to take care of her baby “The name is Cookie ask about me!”. Once she’s gone he deadpans to Jamal “That’s your Moms?”.  Despite brother Dre setting up Jamal to be robbed during the session, making it look like Hakeem sent his boys to do the job, the song turned out hot!  Here’s a clip of “Keep Your Money” (Note:video will not be visible to those receiving Tinsel & Tine via RSS Feed).

4. Hakeem had nothing to do with sending those thugs to rob Jamal, but he does want to get his song and video “Drip Drop” out ASAP as he’s now really ready to step up his game. Even coming to a meeting at Empire with storyboards and all!

5. Cookies assistant Porsha (Ta’Rhonda Jones) role is expanding. She’s Cookies eyes and ears, like a female, ghetto Lloyd (Rex Lee) from Entourage.

6. Cookie’s Crazy Day – After dropping off Jamal at the studio, she testifies for the Feds against a drug king ping she used to deal for who shot a Federal agent in front of her. Her testimony is supposed to be sealed but she doesn’t feel safe and after receiving a rose on her doorstep- the king pins signature, she goes to Philadelphia to hire a hit-man to take him out before he takes her out.  In the meantime, she’s dealing with Tianna being outted on Perez Hilton, Jamal needing her ear as a producer and a visit from Andre, which I can’t even remember what that was about…

7. Cookie’s day ends with a visit from Lucious who although just proposed to Anika, is feeling sentimental about he and Cookie’s anniversary. Guess who really left the rose? Guess who got murdered for no reason!?!
