QFest Day1
Even though buying a new outfit for QFest Opening Night sent my credit card ever closer to the limit, it did pay off, in the fact that I was one of the only underlings that got to attend the VIP pre-opening party held at a fabulous high rise Rittenhouse Square condo, hosted by PCA Committee Members. Being that my whole being gravitates towards swank and cocktails, this will be a highlight of my internship. Food Footnote: butlered hors d’oeuvers really must be smaller than miniature, they’ve got to be tiny bite size, otherwise the food goes to waste – “other” guest resist partaking as to not appear awkward during social…

QFest 2009
I’m interning at Philadelphia Cinema Alliance! (TLA Entertainment Group) It’s the final step in completing my Associates Degree from MCC. I’m getting a chance to do some minor website updates and being introduced to all things LGBTQ (for anyone not in the know, Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender and Queer). Not that there’s anything wrong with that, however, I would have preferred it if the internship coincided with Cinefest (formerly Philadelphia Film Festival) or with the upcoming French Film Festival. But QFest (formerly Philadelphia Gay and Lesbian Film Festival) is where I landed, so I’m going to have fun with it! And most importantly, use it as a stepping stone to…

Philly Restaurant – World Cafe Live
Too bad I’m not a lesbian. Really, my girlfriends are full of sparkling wit and humor, interests and passions, accomplishments and attractiveness. In addition, last night, one of my friends treated me to dinner and a rockabilly good time at WXPN’s World Cafe Live! (3025 Walnut Street – Free parking)We saw John Doe and the Sadies with a outstanding opening act that featured Sara Borges a cowboy boot clad, Betty Page look-a-like. Both acts superbly brought to life the smell of beer & whiskey in a dark honkytonk joint, the lonely wide open skies of the Texas Panhandle and the call of a coyote across the desert plains of New…

X-men Origins: Wolverine
I saw X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE on opening, a matinee, which was the perfect remedy for my rainy, last day of spring break blues. I felt like I got what I wanted from the movie. Storyline wise, it filled in the blanks and at the same time, rightly, left a bit of Wolverine/Logan’s life a mystery. Next time I watch X-men I or II, I’ll be watching closely at scenes between Wolverine and Sabertooth and at the flashbacks of his adamantium infusion. I don’t particularly care to critique the movie, because I’m too taken with the franchise. However, I will say that this reviewer, Stephen Whitty of NJ.com makes some good points.…

Toe Cleavage – Talk To Me
Because I was just blown away with this film Talk To Me, that came out in August of 2007 and totally escaped my notice until recently. I’ve decided to start doing DVD Reviews in short, that will heretofore be called “Toe Cleavage”. We all know Don Cheadle is an A-List actor, but I still don’t think he gets enough recognition for being an Actor’s Actor. He’s every bit as good as Sean Penn or Bob DeNiro, if not better. The film depicts the life of radio shock jock, Ralph “Petey” Greene (Cheadle). Petey is a total hustler, an ex-con, who prefers the term “miscreant”. He’s got a lot of bravado,…
